Tumor or abscess? I think tumor ...

So this is it this morning. I have been away all day at a workshop and am trying to make a 5PM deadline so I haven't scrubbed it up, just have been applying Vetericyn a few times today. It is starting to smell and feels like it picks off pretty easily, so there is some infection brewing. She is still acting completely normal.

I understand necrotic tissue should just slough away, but the smell tells me an infection is setting in. Should I be treating her with antibiotics/worried about gangrene or anything? I have antibiotics for my horse (IV gentamicin, Tribrisin tablets) or neosporin I could give her/put on there. Advice welcome.

I am happy to give her the gentacin but I don't have sterile saline. Should I still give it? What about the Tribrisin (SMZs/sulfamethoxazole & trimethoprim) -- would that be better? They are 800/160 mg tablets that dissolve in water. Should I dose those orally or I could put them on the wound directly -- I've had great luck treating proud flesh and stubborn infections that way.

I would not use the injectable without saline because that is the only thing way I can find on how to give it.

Let me look up the sulfa drug now. (I do not think I would put it on the wound)

@casportpony might know this sulfa one off the top of her head.
