Turken Naken Necks (EW!)

This was Freak. Naked Neck frizzle.

He always looked like he was trashed coming from the punk rock concert at 3 am. Sweet rooster, though.

They are not the most beautiful looking chickens. I have 5 NN mixes in my flock, they are on the low end of the pecking order and never hurt other birds, even though they sometimes can look fierce. They look like Jurassic Park Raptors in a small size. I like the nice big eggs they lay, and 3 of the 5 lay green eggs. You can not tell what the chicken looks like when you look at those eggs! The big green eggs in the basket are the NN eggs, the green eggs on the counter are duck eggs. Sometimes the NN eggs are bigger than the duck eggs. The carton barely closes. These are @BlueBaby 's NN crosses.

I literally just thought this thread was called turkey naked necks! 🤣 that would be incredible!
Some call the NNs Turkens -- but they are 100% chicken! The NN gene is also thought to give some resistance to some of the chicken diseases. Can't remember which ones, but they are very hardy. They are popular in Sonora, Mexico, where I have some in-laws. I am attracted by the easy plucking, too. Gotta have a plan for the cockerels. ;)

Mareks is one that they're supposed to be more resistant to
