Turkey genetics/ feather color!

Oh I see, bb1 is split to black wing bronze
You’re a natural! It took me ages to figure out turkey genetics. (I’m still learning, which is why I’m trying to help out. Teaching is the best way for me to learn.)

I don't have peacocks, but have been going to bird auctions and listening. They always say things like "split to black", so I tried to look up the terminology to figure out what the heck they were referring to! I figured it carried over to turkeys.:D

Narragansett is bb but your hen was produced by a Royal Palm tom (b1b1 cgcg nn) and a Narragansett hen (bb CC n-) making your hen Narragansett Semi-Color Semi-Gray (bb1 Ccg n-). The Semi-Color reference comes from having a color (C) gene and the Semi-Gray reference comes from having a gray (cg) gene.

The split to is just another way of saying it is carrying a recessive gene for whatever the split to is referring.

Thanks so much! This has all been soooo helpful!:clap:thumbsup

Your hen is semi-grey.
bb^1 Ccg n-
The offspring should be red bronze.

These are the correct genotypes for the offspring, yes. :goodpost:
Don't know what these are but I think they are beautiful.
