Turkey sounds and color

Oh you need that universal translatig device used on Star Trek don't you. Short of that spend time with him in the yard and observe him. his intentions will be clear. Give him an treat and watch him, show him pictures of wild turkey hens, and watch him. (only kidding on the turkey porn) seriously a little time spent in the yard and you will know him before you know it.

I would def. get a hen if you could.
We had a sweet pet tom we had to get rid of b/c he was raised with chickens and kept trying to mate them (very bad for the poor girls).
He'll be a better pet and happier if you have a hen, and, believe me, if you get one turkey, you're going to want more.

@ Turkeymom,
Ok, a couple questions with that...He is getting along great with both the roosters and hens, so if we were to go get his hen GF (LMBO) will she beat up the chicken hens already here? Also did your tom mate the chickens in the spring? I ask because we were told by the seller that if we just separated him from the hens from April to May we'd be fine, What are your thoughts?

Well, our tom was born last April and started getting interested in our chickens around December. Now, he was raised with these birds, so probably he thought he was a chicken.
Then, we got a hen for our tom, and she got along fine with everybody, but tom had no interest in her. We gave him a month or two to see if he would transfer his love interests to the turkey hen, but he was still beating up my chickens (by trying to mate them - he wouldn't have hurt them on purpose). So, we got rid of poor tom, and we still have the hen. She is an excellent layer (we just eat the eggs) and an all-around entertaining bird. She loves our chickens and will attack the cat if the cat comes too close to her chickens.

So, of course, we got new poults...

Will a Narragansett tom breed with a Bourbon Red Turkey hen? Just wondering because there is a hen I can buy for him that's 20mins. away rather than 2 1/2 hrs way!

Just my opinion but I think he'd be happier with the hen he'd been living with instead of a new hen. I've only just gotten turkeys but I've read many times how they form solid bonds with their mates. Take along a dog crate and make a nice day trip out of it with the kids :)

Yea, We're going this morning to pic up his original GF....Road Trip!!! Thank you all so much for your help, We really appreciate it!

I had a Royal Palm pair and the Tom would kill the chickens if they were together. He was housed next to them and could see them all the time, but if they were together he would kill. Also the hen would grab the chickens by their heads and throw them to the ground.
