After looking I think he may be a red bronze and her a lilac? It's hard to tell when they are In display and mine are not but that was what I think they are?

Go look at Porters website they have great pictures of all kinds of breeds. Just from the picture they look like a cross of Bourbon Red and Blue Slate. I think that is called a Rusty Slate on the website. I crossed the two breeds and got poults of both colors. I didn't keep any long enough to see them fully feathered though.
thank u for info I appreciate itThey are mixed breed of some kind, that is for sure, so it's hard to say what they will produce. They are not red bronze or lilac. The hen has the blue slate gene but there is something else mixed in there to give the reddish color. Reddish color in turkeys does not always mean they carry a red gene (like Bourbon Red), sometimes it is the bronze color leaking through. The tom may be similar to what I ended up with, the Blue Red Bronze. Notice the cross barring on the tail, that is what my Blue Red Bronze has, the cross bars are light blue. Unless you know what the parents are that produced these, or have tons of experience with turkey color genetics like Kevin Porter, it is very difficult to sort out the makeup of a mixed breed turkey. If this sort of stuff is of interest to you, Kevin Porter runs a turkey color genetics group on Yahoo that you can request to join. Post photos there and you will get more people with knowledge about the colors to help you. Or not. The group is not always super active, but if no one answers, Kevin will usually chime in when he has time.
Quote: THey are VERY pretty!!
thank uTHey are VERY pretty!!
Tthank uTHey are VERY pretty!!still not sure what to call them? bourbon blue slate? Lol the male has actually displayed twice that we have seen just for a second since I asked when he would display
I have very big english orps next to him he protects his hen from maybe they are mimicking another tom in his head?
to double check againI have a young pair just like these from what I can see in the pic. The hen would be a rusty slate (bourbon red x blue slate) and the tom is red blue bronze (carrying & showing all 3 colors). Double check Porter's site for comparison. www.porterturkeys.com
