Turkey Talk for 2014

Quote: My RP turkey hen actually killed a roo, but he would not leave her alone.
I would up selling the pair, decided to just have bourbon reds only.
I still think about white hollands, may get some yet.

Top and bottom outside the fence, and coop, my coops are all together, worked well.
The entire perimeter. Its so nice not worrying any more. Free range time is the only risk now.
We have 5 acres, but will be doing the cattle pasture soon also.

I have been selecting hens for dinner one by one. BOy are they delicious. I do wonder what they are eating while out and about free ranging-- I never catch them eating other than at the feed trough. Tasted quite good!! Ate the tail first.

I was surprized how much fat she had under the skin and inside the cavity.

Very good--- dinner last night , then picking at it this morning for breakfast. Shared meat with the cat too.

DO you have far to take the birds? Will you have one for dinner tonight, or save it for Sunday dinner??

I may have been the one to mention it on the other thread. Did you watch it? What did you think?
I did watch it last night and I loved it. It was absolutely amazing the way they bonded and communicated. It made me want to go sit in my turkey pen and snuggle my birds lol.

It is a 3 Hr. drive. We do not cull our birds for us. We sale them for meat birds to others. They are our pets till they are gone. We love them and tend them and they go away.
I had some very good chicken soup last night lots of chicken and vegies homemade with homemade dumplings. Yummy
