You're great!!!!!

Working on snagging a quad of narris right now. He has 4 extra toms he wants me to take with them. Dilemma: What the heck am I gonna do with 4 extra toms??? My freezer barely closes now!!!

They were just at 9 months old, as they were hatched in May. Headless, footless, and plucked, but still with guts, the biggest read 29 lbs on the scale. The scale died soon afterwards (it was a battery powered one) so I don't know how accurate that was. I couldn't lift him alone live, so I don't think it was too terribly far off. I would say that, gutless, he still weighed about 20 or a bit less.
In other, living turkey news, I found a nest of 6 eggs yesterday! I do want replacement poults, as it is quite quiet here with only two toms and three hens lol. I'll just have to wait, as my incubator is already being put to use incubating a batch of chicken eggs.
That is a great weight after being processed! I know I miss having turkey around here. To bad you don't have a broody to hatch them for you

K Epp, has good questions. Which made me think of one: What do you do with 'old' turkeys? Is it the same as with an 'old' chicken--put them in the stew pot.

Lisa :)

I don't know what I would ever be able to kill my hens. I hand raised them and they are like cats rubbing up against my legs. They are Bronze 11 myth olds. The BR tom is not that friendly, but nice enough. He is the dominate and 2 yes old. The Narri is 3 and a pain in the rear. He chases my feet. I have chased back, kicked, smacked him with the pitchfork handle he still runs at my feet with his head down like a goose. He may not make it to old age. I bought both toms in the fall. I know I'm the 3rd owner. If he wasn't down right beautiful in all his strutting I would have ate him by now. He has never done more than chase my feet. I even changed colors of boots to see if that was agrevating him. Nope it doesn't matter if they are lime green, hot pink or mud brown.
