Turkey Talk for 2014

gobble gobble gobble gobbled him up for thanksgiving

lol

Your white tom looks a lot like the one we just processed (He'll be the guest of honor for Christmas dinner). I've finally got my turkeys something to roost on that's not my duck's hut, which is good.

Got the first egg from my Midget White trio yesterday

They were laying when I got them in August, but all those were infertile. I've been watching them mate the last 2 weeks, so I'm hopeful this one is fertile.

I don't know how big your tom was but when we butched him our was about 30-35 pounds...the one in the cooker was his sister which was the smaller one....hahahha
morning everyone...was up till 430 am designing the big incubator...and doing research but off to work I go...have a great day

Same here.

Have your turkeys finished molting? my oldest hen has just started molting now, and she has lost all her tail feathers, so she looks kind of weird.

My Tom completed molting by mid-September, my Hen just completed molting about 3 weeks ago. The others I have are May hatches so they will not molt this year, besides they are too busy with their squabbles to be top turkey to worry about molting.

I am afraid I am going to have to remove some heads soon, the young ones have been making feints on guests here, I will not allow that. They will have to keep the squabbles between themselves or go to freezer camp, no other choices!

Are your young ones toms or hens? my young toms have already shown signs of possible aggression, so they need to head to the freezer soon.
