Turkey Talk for 2014

It is dark enough to candle here now. 2 yolks...... Poor chicken that laid that will need prep H... poor thing..

I was going to ad my turkey newbie thoughts but you already know what it is..

I was going to say I was confused at first too, but once you see a turkey egg you KNOW its a turkey egg, as was already stated, the look, the feel..

Good luck, I hope your hens start laying soon!

Just wanted to share: I have been hatching turkey eggs for a few months now and a few poults have given me a lot of trouble trying to make sure they will drink and eat. I have one now that I have been force feeding with a syringe for two days with vitamins in water trying to keep it alive and still dunking it in the water and feed to try to teach it what to do. It looks at the others eating and drinking and walks away turns it's back on them and lays down! It's making me crazy! It nearly died on my twice yesterday, I walked in and it was on it's back not moving.
If not for these vitamins I know it would not be here. I have chicks and other poults in with this one to help teach it to eat and drink as well.

I am frustrated now!

:th I am frustrated now!

There could be other issues internally that are keeping it from eating. Sometimes there's just nothing you can do.

Since my Tom has been separated from all my hens, my most dominant oldest hen(almost 3yrs old) has decided to take on his role lol. She has always shown this dominance but yesterday was too funny she was very dramatic doing the puff and wing drag. Her snood even extends a small bit.

My 2 oldest hens (a mother & daughter, slates) were displaying the other day to put an ornery rooster in his place. They were warning him he was on the verge of a beat down. He ran for his life. Smart rooster...lol

One of my BR hens hates one of the Roosters and anytime they are a few feet of each other the dominance thing is on, it almost sad to watch, the rooster doesn't stand a chance and always backs down. The Tom is always there to protect the hen and has even bumped the roo from behind to remind him of his place..
