It will grow the way it grows. You can choose to take action or not. I can not imagine a dietary supplement or feeding dish helping my "Bill". He requires direct intervention to keep alive and fed I hope your crossbeak isn't as bad as mine is.

Hi AllenK...Can you post a pic of your Bill? Do you have any care and feeding tips for me and my scissor/cross beak hen? Here's my Beakie...(photo is pre-smoothie brainstorm) I make her fruit and veggie smoothies, serve them in a deep dish 3xday. I include canned dog food, yogurt, whole raw egg and Layer Crumbles along with chicken vitamins, kale, lettuce, zucchini, cucumber, carrot, frozen raspberries, fro blueberries, fro pineapple. I give her a shower in the sink about 1xweek because she dribbles down her front so much. She's about 20 weeks old at this point. I'll just keep at it till she can't go on. My flock of six is always out free during the days-Beakie's ever so cheerful and always comes running when I screech BEEEEAKIEEEEE!!!

My Bill is not debilitated to the extent of your Beakie. Compared to her he just isn't as debilitated. When I get lazy though he gets to raid the cat kibble, but yes seeing yours really am thinking canned pet food probably has the right consistency for your chicken. Other than that I just try keeping his top beak trimmed back a bit to keep it as well approximated as I can. Beakie does look like a very extreme case.

This is "Billie." Her beak is twisted to the right side of her face. She seems to be eating fine, so long as the food is deep. She doesn't do too well having to fight for any treats thrown out to the flock, so I have to trick them. Fortunately, I have a cockerel who likes to be hand fed his treats; I'll feed him, the girls come near, I throw a treat to them and then quickly toss a treat near Billie...who is usually hanging about the outer fringe. I'm working on training her to know her name, so hopefully I can better spoil her. I just hope her beak doesn't get worse than it is.
Her coloring is also very different. Her right half is mostly white with red feathers, and the left is red with white feathers. She reminds me of Two-face from the Batman series. Bless her heart
