We have one Easter Egger who will be 8 years old in August. She has never been the best layer. If the others take a month for molt, she takes 3 etc. Last winter, no molt, continued laying. In mid-April we got two eggs from her one day and figured we had missed one from the day before. Then it happened again in a 12-hour time period. I have been keeping track now. In May she laid two eggs 9 days. The week of April 30, it was 3 times she laid two eggs in a day, and one egg on the other days, for a total of 10 eggs that week. The week of May 28 she laid two eggs 4 days, including two days in a row W and Th, for a total of 11 eggs in a week. She just laid two eggs Th and Friday of this week. She has not missed a day of laying at least one egg since May 23. What is going on? All I read is 24-26 hours to "make" an egg.. She is the only one who lays non white or brown eggs so it's easy to tell. Is she making up for lost time? 8 years old in August. I just don't know what to think. Any ideas?
