You should look for 20% protein food. That may help. And yes, Parrot toys are fine, and if you look up articles on homemade boredom busters for chickens, those are good too!

x2. Sounds like it's mostly due to boredom if they're still confined to a brooder half the time at 8 weeks.

Mine have eaten a couple feathers. They have been fine. I figure it can't hurt them, feathers are 90% protein.
