We hadn't had our chickens very long last summer and DH wore his shorts out in the chicken yard. He had a good sized cherry angioma on his calf (it looks like a mole but is a coil of dilated capillaries under the skin). One of our Golden Comets took one look at it and decided she wanted it. Pecked it right off! He came running in the house with blood streaming down his leg. He soaked through two or three gauze pads and I told him that I didn't think he had to worry about infection with how profusely it bled. It is gone now and hasn't come back.
We are all very careful about what is exposed when we are with the chickens. Moles, scabs, painted toenails, earrings, hoody strings, buttons, rivets, etc.....It's all fair game to them!
