Most good feed stores carry them, they are a staple in goat diets (alfalfa)and rabbit (timothy)

I just got a bag at TS. They are in the horse section. They have cubes and pellets. The ones I picked up are timothy pellets.Where does one buy Grass pellets? I've never seen them at our feed store or TSC
Very interesting. I have not heard of the grass pellets. I have mixed in some of the alfalfa pellets (about 2% total) in with my ff (fermented feed made from waterfowl feed and another batch from layer pellets) that I feed. It works well for my birds. I don't bother in spring or early summer when everything is green but as the season progresses and there is less grass for them I do like adding a little extra green matter to their feed. I would rather use grass pellets then the alfalfa I think, although I might still use a bit of alfalfa from time to time. I would think I could increase the amount if I used the grass pellets instead of the alfalfa too. My birds would probably like it better as well. They do eat the alfalfa but its not their favorite so I usually have to mix it in pretty well. I will check next time I am at the feed store to see if they have them and how much they cost here....
For those of us with geese - what about feeding Orchard and/or Timothy grass pellets? I've been meaning to buy a bag for my geese to see if they will eat it. I'm guessing that they will if I start mixing it in with their regular feed. Grass pellets seem like a good choice for geese.
Actually, I wonder if they could be mixed in with the duck feed, too. I'll have to look at the nutritional values on the feed tag.
Thanks Haunted. i was just there thursday wish I had known. I'll get some to add to my ff I have going for the birds.I just got a bag at TS. They are in the horse section. They have cubes and pellets. The ones I picked up are timothy pellets.
I had heard geese don't care much for alfalfa so I will try getting the grass pellets. Still waiting for the ducks/geese to fall for the ff.Very interesting. I have not heard of the grass pellets. Don't rub it in.our geese wont touch alfalfa, oat hay is their fav, but we have grass year round so we dont feed the pellets.
I agree we're getting ready to have our first frosts, so grass will be at a premium soon. The grass pellets will help alot over the winter. If I don't mix the alfalfa in well both the ducks and the geese will still eat it but only after they have eaten most of the rest of the feed, they just fill up on everything else first then nibble at it. I think that perhaps its flavor is strong because its so concentrated so I only will throw in a handful per batch of ff. They seem okay with it at that level but I don't want to push them on it. I figure that its more of a supplement for vitamins and minerals for them so no need to try to do too much. The grass pellets though seem like they could be more of a staple type ingredient in their daily rations at least when there is less grass for them. Even my ducks eat a ton of grass when its available.
the pellets I found were straight timothy grass. I already give them rolled oats as a treat each night and they love that. I was going to try growing grass in big flower pots and see if I could keep that going through the winter. Grass seed is cheap right now and i already have a house of plants. A few more won't matter. Rotate the pots so they'll have something fresh at least. Maybe some lettuce as well. Hmmm, I've got a bunch of seeds as I never did get my garden in this year.our geese wont touch alfalfa, oat hay is their fav, but we have grass year round so we dont feed the pellets.
