Lucky that the cat didn't get in though! I have a few round me but luckily they don't seem bothered in the hens. With your broody I'd recommend putting them in a cage. I know it's horrible but it is the quickest way to break them. The longest I had to do it for was 3 days and that was a mega determined Brahma. I've tried other methods and this has been the only way that's worked for me. Don't worry to much about the eggs I'm only getting 6 from 20 hen's! The weather doesn't help now its getting colder and half my girls are molting as well!
