Yes I meant neosporin! Damn auto correct! Well it's head is looking good today so I have left it alone. I'm not sure whether it's coincidental that it's head all of a sudden seemed to make good healing progress but I'll definitely use it again should the need arise. It just dawned on me you probably meant Neosporin instead of newsprint?I'm not clever about auto correct. I remember thinking 'Newsprint? that's an odd home remedy I've not heard of'
Anyhow, I tend not to use ointments like that on wounds. Given the need I would try honey also.
eta I'm with the Honey does not spoil team.![]()
I did think that I should have left that fake egg in. I wish I'd followed my instincts but I wouldn't have thought she'd lay another egg so late after the first two. I hope it does make it but I think the odds are stacked against it.I had a staggered hatch one time. The first grew like a weed . When the second arrived, the parents kept feeding the larger junior more, as natural selection principles. Lil junior kept struggling and did not grow very well. Eventually expired as a small squab while brother looked as large as adult. I did not hand feed.
The initial days of being fed crop milk are of utmost importance.
You know for next time to leave plastic in place.
On the subject of HONEY, it is my understanding that it is the only food that is not supposed to spoil. I did not do any deep research on this though.
Shelf life of 28 days may only affect the therapeutic effect of what is in that particular honey.
How do they determine the 28 day stretch??? The honey is made during an extended period of time, and is not processed, but rather collected. Some of the honey is younger in the honeycomb, than other.
Nowadays, everything has an expiration date, or shelf life. I am not against that BTW.![]()

On a more positive note both the first two squeakers are now fluttering around the loft! They were both on the top shelf and in the trap. So I lowered the bobwires and they both went straight through! The third one is still on the bottom looking a bit cheesed it buddies are both sat on the top! A bit of motivation for it! I'm thinking next week and I'll let them explore the garden. I'll just have to make sure they don't go on the chicken run!
