Universal Health Care Passes House

Good bye constitution. Hello communism.

No scare tactics here, just the facts.

If it passes the senate, Dr.s will retire in droves.

Good luck trying to find a physician.

Intelligent young men and women will decided not to go to medical school because now there is no financial incentive for all of the time spent. Medical schools will close.
Just what we want, a bunch of unqualified Dr.s 8 years from now.

No more free market. While the system at present may not be the best, it's still the best in the world. When rich folks from other countries get cancer, they come to the US!
I had a friend that broke his leg in a hunting accident in Canada. After three days there and no treatment, the wife was finally able to get him back to Phoenix. The Dr. said if he had spent another day there, he would have lost the leg.

And yes, the death panel provision passed in the latest house bill. Non doctors will now be able to decide our fate and if we are worth saving.

I have two sons w/ severe pre-existing conditions. Socialized medicine will not help us at all in getting help for them.

We can't afford the surgery for son #4 now, we won't be able to afford the taxes that will now be thrown upon us, nor do I believe that we will ever qualify for son #4 to have the surgery.

(He was born with a congenital defect)

Son #6 is has extreme developmental disabilities. We can't afford to get him help, but we make too much money to qualify for help. The only thing that will change is the government taking more out of my pocket and we will then be able to afford less and less.

It's not fair to change all the rules mid stream.

I wish the plan they passed would have included their own health care. At present members of congress have 100% healthcare with no copays.... they can't take their own 'medicine'.

Time to remove all of the bums that voted for this fiasco out of office in 2010.

and that's how it affects me.

Yah know what? What you are saying here is exactly what doctors said in Canada when they did health care reform. Honestly hope you are wrong and it works as well for the U.S. as it did here.

More than likely I won't have access to the current treatment. This is treatment that gives me my life back, i.e. I'm not housebound with fatigue. There are 2 treatment guidelines for Lyme disease. The Infections Disease Society (IDSA) supports theirs and the in-the-trenches Lyme doctors support the International Lyme And Associated Diseases Societies (ILADS.org) guidelines. I relapse when off this treatment and spend a lot of time in bed, miserable - it's not worth living that way. The gov't will naturally pick the guidelines that are less expensive and are produced by the so called "experts".

If you want to know more go to the ILADS website and read the treatment info. I think everyone should read the "Basic Information" - especially if they have kids. Few people know even half of the 10 things listed there. And now Lyme Disease has been reported in all 48 contiguous states and is much more prevalent that most doctors know. OK I'm done. You asked - I told you.

Lyme disease since 1998 and still not cured . . . .but hey, I'm still fighting!

Well it will have little to no affect on my family. But I do not see it passing any further...it barely squeaked by the house. there are too many "tag alongs" on it to get much further. Time will tell.

My neighbor has Lyme disease and has been covered for treatment including delving into the realms of alternative care. I haven't yet read the full Universal Care bill, so I can't comment on a situation like yours under the U.S. proposed system. Through our systems evolution, many things that used to fall through the cracks do not and still many more need major improvements. There have been some really stupid decisions made along the way and some major blunders. But would I like to see us go back to not having it .... NO!

I have my own less than friendly views on "Industry Experts" and "Peer Reviewed" over ruling common sense and real world numbers. But that is a discussion best not raised here.

I think that this is reeeeeally going to suck for me. And i'm NOT happy about this at all!

How it will effect anyone and everyone, is a long way down the road. I don't like arbitrary taxes, which do not help me, in any way....I'm just not into the helping my fellow man, at another man's coercion.

As a doomsayer, here's my vision of the future..Current doctors, who, deservedly, make an excellent living, due to schooling, internship, and continuing education, will be forced, by the govt. to work for a salary, which doesn't offend certain portions of our society.
Doctors, who already have a decent bankroll, and don't want to put up with the hassle, will simply leave the profession, or move to a country, without such onerous regulations, thus, leaving a dwindling number of less knowledgable up and comers, running the show...

Of course, being govt. owned and controlled, malpractice, for botched results, will soon be out the window. That information, will simply disappear, into reams of existing bueraucracy and paperwork.
People considering the profession, will look at the bottom line, and ask themselves, if they want to dedicate 10+years of money and effort, just so that the govt. can tell them, they are only worth $70-100K a year.

On the flip side, healthcare, now being "free", will load the medical facilities, with every kind of riff raff, who want their free bottle of aspirin, which will probably take 4 manhours of bueraucracy, to process. Why would they care. They are, probably, already on the govt. dole.
You, with the broken ankle, or brain annuerism[sp], will simply have to wait your turn.

I'm just hoping my diabetic father will be able to get some coverage. He's living off disability, and not old enough for medicare. Any company he's gone to wants $100 more a month than he has in income.

He had a great job as a machinist for 35 years, but the company packed up and sent all the jobs to Mexico. Bye bye pension! There seems to be a "forgotten class" of people that are really hurting with the way things are now. We know several former steel workers from LTV in the same boat

I don't know if this legislation is the best, but some kind of change is desperately needed.

* I want to thank everyone that has ever donated to Shriner's Hospitals. My daughter is a patient of the Lexington branch. Her care would not be possible without your help*

I've had health insurance all my life, i.e., I'm one of the LUCKY ones. I'm on Medicare now along with a supplementary plan and a prescription that we pay for out-of-pocket. I would have liked to see everyone, all ages, be put on Medicare as the single payer plan. There should not be a profit or high salaries made on ANY of our citizens' health by insurance companies' stock holders and executives.
