Thank you all so much for everything. That was truly a horrifying experience as a first time chicken owner. I’ve made repairs to the area she got out of and I even reinforced it over again.
She’s my favorite hen, and I just want to thank you all for helping me save her life. I literally could not have done it without you!
We’re not out of the woods yet, but everything looks promising for now.

**UPDATE ON BABYGIRL**
She’s moved around a couple of times, eating lots, surprisingly drinking water, starting to make a little noise and is way more alert than last night. I haven’t checked her wounds yet, but when I cleaned them last night, they had scabbed over nicely and it looks like they didn’t hurt too bad.
So good to hear.
Now enjoy listening to her regaling the rest of the flock with her adventure!

Guys— Is her leg broken? I felt her femur and all down her leg, ankle, and toes, but I didn’t find any apparent breaks. However, her foot looks a little twisted and she’s still not putting any weight on it whatsoever. What do yins think?

Yesterday, one of my hens was attacked by a hawk (I posted that in another thread). I’ve been focusing on patching her up and getting her out of shock, but now, I’m a bit stuck on her leg. I’ve never had a chicken with any broken bones or anything, so I don’t really know what I’m looking for. I’ve felt her femur and the rest of her leg, toes, ankles, etc and I didn’t feel any apparent breaks. Thoughts?

Higher up, is there any green bruising up into the feathers above the joint? I wonder if she has dislocated or injured the tendons of her leg, or hip? Is there any way to see a farm vet or regular vet tomorrow? Does she seem to be in pain?

I just saw your other thread started today about the same hen where you may give aspirin. Tylenol is not usually given in chickens or birds. Could you transfer some of the pics from the new thread here? I wonder if she has some nerve damage to the injured leg. Does she move any part of the injured leg or toes?

I’m not able to get in with a vet. I’m also not able to pay for it… Which I know is a basic requirement for animal owning, but I’m not even graduated out of high school yet so I’m a bit tight on money. She’s moving around and doesn’t seem to be in too bad of pain, but I can tell she’s uncomfortable.

She doesn’t move any part of the injured leg or toes. But, when I touch it, she’s very calm and doesn’t freak out when I move them. It’s like she doesn’t feel it?
