UPDATE! Neighbor's roo is beating up my roos! Need advise. Pix

For the roo, since you do have fencing -- catch him, clip one wing, and toss him back over the fence.

Oh, that's good! I had thought of trying to catch him and remove his spurs, so I'll do both. I just need to inlist some help catching him.

Thank you!

Great response! Wing clipping. And cut off his tail feathers too while you're at it! Mean old roo. Maybe then you can affect his self esteem by trimming his ploomage and he'll be so ashamed that he'll never come back.

Seriously the wing clipping sounds good unless he's able to go around your wired up fencing somewhere. Otherwise, I'd just catch him while he's in your pen and rehome him.

Ah, I see the fence pics posted. Thank you for updating us.

I agree with the feather trimming idea . . . but for me, I would trap and rehome that roo. Dogs too.

Good luck, and please keep us posted on how things work out.

First I will admit I only read the frist couple of pages of this thread but here is my take on it.

SSS they have been warned.

Shoot Shovel and Shush. Rooster would be in crockpot. I am not going to have animal coming onto my property and attacking my girls or my roo. Nope, if it is domestic and I can find owner...they get one warning then it is BANG. Wild animals well it is just BANG.

If the wing trimming fails you could build him a little pen and give it to your neighbors. I know its a hassle but at least he would be contained.

I hear rooster tastes like chicken...

*lol* Ok, bad joke, but the feather clipping idea sounds like a reasonable place to start to your problem.

I applied Neosporin daily to my Hamburg's eye, and after about a week, the swelling went down and the eye popped back up in place, which I'm thrilled about! I was so afraid his eye was gone.

Oh, and by the way, no animal control out here at all.

The mean old roo kept coming back, but I was having the hardest time trying to catch him. My 10 year old finally cornered him and caught him by the tail and we picked him up, trimmed his spurs and nails, and then he got away before we could do his wings.

A day or two passed and he came back but my #1 roo (an Ameraucana male) had finally had his fill of the nonsense (don't know what took him so long) and beat the living daylights out of him! He still comes back, but keeps his distance, and waits patiently for my white rock hen to come to him......and she always does! Oh well, gotta feel sorry for him with no hens at his place! He's come a little closer a few times, but doesn't start anything. All my roo has to do is look like he's going over to him and he runs off. I guess he just needed an attitude adjustment! He's been perching on one end of the barn at night. I see him there in the mornings. I guess a have a watch rooster! As long as he behaves, I guess he can stay.

Here is a picture of the old bird. He only has a small piece of his comb left after one of their little dogs bit it off when he tried to steal the dog food!

Thanks to everyone for all the tips and good advise!
