I applied Neosporin daily to my Hamburg's eye, and after about a week, the swelling went down and the eye popped back up in place, which I'm thrilled about! I was so afraid his eye was gone.
Oh, and by the way, no animal control out here at all.
The mean old roo kept coming back, but I was having the hardest time trying to catch him. My 10 year old finally cornered him and caught him by the tail and we picked him up, trimmed his spurs and nails, and then he got away before we could do his wings.
A day or two passed and he came back but my #1 roo (an Ameraucana male) had finally had his fill of the nonsense (don't know what took him so long) and beat the living daylights out of him! He still comes back, but keeps his distance, and waits patiently for my white rock hen to come to him......and she always does! Oh well, gotta feel sorry for him with no hens at his place! He's come a little closer a few times, but doesn't start anything. All my roo has to do is look like he's going over to him and he runs off. I guess he just needed an attitude adjustment! He's been perching on one end of the barn at night. I see him there in the mornings. I guess a have a watch rooster! As long as he behaves, I guess he can stay.
Here is a picture of the old bird. He only has a small piece of his comb left after one of their little dogs bit it off when he tried to steal the dog food!
Thanks to everyone for all the tips and good advise!
