Edit to add, I peeked online, most say the increase risk is after 41 weeks, at that point the rate of stillbirth is equal to the rate at 38 weeks.

just happened upon this thread today. Man there are alot of soon to be BYC mommy's!!

I'm on my 3rd myself, he is due May 7th and I'm already counting down, lol. This has been the WORST pregnancy! I have Hyper Grav....for those lucky to never experience that..it just means I throw up 4 - 6 times a day and it looks to last my entire pregnancy!!

I would LOVE to share my labor/delivery stories....lol

My first, I had contractions for 5 days, dialated to 4 cm for that whole time, the hospital kept sending me home..sigh....they finally had to induce me with the pitocin and had to break my water, after day 5, which...OMG, was awful! I got my epidural about 2 hours after the pitocin and that actually helped me progress better because I was relaxed more.....even tho the whole time I felt every ounce of pain in one section of my inner thigh (in the crease of my leg and hip).
Ohh, mind you, they didn't want me to eat anything solid for that whole 5 days!...Needless to say I was a very cranky mommy to be!
He weighed 8 13 and was 22 in. long


My second was ALOT smoother, I was only in labor with her for about 6 hours. They still had to induce and break my water as I was stuck at 4 cm like with my son. I did get the epidural but it wore off about 20 minutes before I delivered. My mom was with me on this one and I told her it was "burning" and she took off down the hall for the nurse. By the time she came back with the nurse, I was on my side and holding her head in waiting for SOMEONE!!
The doc came in, delivered her the rest of the way.

We did have a little scare with her, the doc said she must have been practicing acrobats in there, cos she had the cord wrapped around her neck, not one, but TWICE!! (THIS IS NOT COMMON, so I was told, so don't freak out, lol)
She weighed 6 12 and was 19 in. long


Childbirth is scary...for most of us...the anxiety, the waiting and the pain.

Just remember, everyone is different. Don't let the scary stories bother you. AND, listen to your body, if you are in so much pain that you are NOT relaxing, don't be ashamed to ask for pain meds, it may help relax you and make your labor go smoother.

I hope you have a smooth and happy labor. Holding that precious little package afterwards is the best part and that will make you forget all the pain and anxiety.

I made DH go to McDonald's! Austin arrived @ 7:07pm, till they were done with the both of us it was like 9:30 and I was starved! (He was induced and I had nothing but ice chips since supper the night before) They offered me Jello.... I was hungry enough to eat my weight in Jello! After giving DH a "look" he quickly offered to get some real food. While I'm not a huge fan of fast food, that was the best tasting burger I've ever eaten!

I do agree with the both of you that your body should do what its going to do when the time is right !!

And my plan is not to have to be induced, LOL !!! Yes... I have this ALL planned (I wish)

I'm not saying that IF I hit 39 weeks he will just look at me and say ok come on its time, They start THINKING about it i'm sure they look in to many factors.

The worse food can always taste the best when super hungry or after a good night of drinking... Ever notice that ???

I thought It was funny when they told us in birthing class that they give the hubbys a "card" so they can go to the caf and eat. I was like ohhhh thats sooo nice of them (as us women cant eat), but then after the baby is born hubbys have to pay for there food. huh ???

I had a scheduled c sect at 38 weeks(not a moment too soon)

As soon as I was able to eat my obg came in with a cute little box FILLED with chocolate eclairs from a little bakery in the North End.
I couldnt have anything with sugar for nearly my entire pregnancy.

We had room service and a private room for the entire time.5 days. My meals and anything dh ate were covered. And the food was great.

The people in the room next door had 3 kids and they all stayed there in that one room. After the second night I was about ready to kill them. The kids were loud and runnning the halls at all hours of the night. I complained to the nurse and it was quiet for one night. Then they returned and it began again. So I signed myself out after 3 days. Between the noise from the kids, visitors and the nurses waking me every half hour I wasnt getting any rest

Oh yes, they wake you up to see if you hurting ... LOL

I had a scheduled c-section for my 2nd. and went in the night before and actually fell in labor at the hospital LOL Imagine that and it was scheduled 2 weeks early . for my youngest , she came 10 days earlier than scheduled c-section ...

I had 3 c-sections and after having them , I would not have it any other way .

Okay here's mine....
14/15 years ago when i was pregnant with my first child I went over due two weeks and I was scheduled to be induced before Canada day...The night before I was soooo excited/nervous and could NOT sleep....knowing I was going to be a mother the next day !!!holding my child in my arms....I got the nastiest headache ...my hubby was snoring away !! So of course I woke him up and made him listen to me....I wasnt sure if i could take any medicine for it because I was going to the hospital in a couple hours so I decided to phone up to the hospital around 3am and talk to the Maternity floor nurse and this nurse who has a Jamician accent told me "Oh Honey go have good sex" and come in in a couple hours....oh my gosh I laughted so hard...

I ate a bowl of raisin bran cereal lookin' at my husband across the table makin' him stay awake with me" I went to sleep finally and when we went in at 8am the nurse was at the desk...I could tell by her accent it was the nurse...and she smiled and looked at my hubby and winked and said "well???" I said a couple choice words and told her I ate a bowl of cereal....he whined and said I made him stay awake .....
This nurse and I will always have a connection...she was the head nurse for both my kids and when we see each other ...we always hug and laugh....
Another thing I always tell new moms is make a journal for you and the kids....it goes by so fast ....
