Well, it's still just hanging out in the egg. About half of the top of the egg is gone, where I opened it up but it's not making anymore efforts. I am getting kinda nervous about it. I might help it out in a couple of hours... I figured that once I opened the top for it a bit, it would come out. But I guess it isn't ready yet.
No other pips, I don't think the rest are gonna hatch. I think I'll listen and see if I hear anything in them in a while. The batteries in my candling-flashlight are dead.
Edited to add:
I did open up the whole top half of the egg just now. It seems like it was getting really weak. Now it's head is just hanging out of the egg and I guess it's resting. Hope I didn't wait to long to help it.
Well, what is the total now? Hope the little one that was resting in the egg is alright. I have had them take some pretty serious naps when they have been trying for a long time. I am ready to see more pics.
It should be fine... she's just resting.. it's alot of work form them to break out the shell... i'm glad we didn't have to when we were born..lolol i see right now i'ma need some coffee
Weeell, it made it through the night but its still pretty weak. I just don't know if its something I need to fix or just give it time. It's out of the egg, has been since yesterday afternoon, but it can't walk. I posted a thread about it in the injuries section. It tries to walk but can't straighten its "elbows" (for the lack of the correct term). So it kinda wobbles on its feet but doesnt stand up. I think its toes are a bit curled as well. I'll take it out in a bit and do a thorough check up.
I didnt want to stress it too much last night. I'll take pics then.
Do you have vitamins added to their water? I think about the only thing you can do for it is supportive treatment. If it's having trouble getting around yet, make sure it's getting to the water and food dish.
You wouldn't believe it! I was sitting in front of the brooder and was wishing it would get up and walk around and all of a sudden it gets up and starts walking, just fine!
I guess it did just need extra rest. I am so glad I got it out of the egg when I did! I don't think it would have made it much longer cause it was so weak. I am so happy its walking! Hubby is already calling it "gimpy"
