Hi y’all,
We need some advice.
Is this flock pox?
we found on of our 4.5 year old Rhode Island Red Hens, sick and lame this morning. she has black scabbing under right wing and she lays the leg out at times while laying. But most importantly she has black scabbing on her head and won’t get up.
Please advise. Is this pox or else? Any thing I can do? She and another Rooster whom I noticed has some too, recently lost some of his main feathering on top and at butt and is now breathing weird, both currently separated from Flock as he is showing some scabbing we are concerned about now as well. Please see photos..
Thank you!
Anna

I had pox in my turkeys and chickens a few years ago. Your problem does not look the same. With pox the spots were almost like black warts that could be easily removed. Other than the pox marks my birds acted completely normal.
When looking at your pictures it look likes they're caused by external parasites-mites. There may be more than one thing going on to cause the skin damage and behaviors.
