URGENT!!!!!!!!!

I have a coachin bantham he was born on September 6th so he is not very old. Well he recently hurt his leg when a fire started in my broader, so he is currenty staying in my house. Up until recently,he has been fine...but now he is tucking his head up underneath his body and/or flipping himself over onto his back. Why is he doing this,and will he be okay?

Welcome to BYC. Chickens will sometimes tuck their heads under a wing if they are cold or feeling sick. Flipping over to his back sounds more serious. Mareks disease or something neurological could be possibilities. I would try some poultry vitamins with electrolytes in his water for a few days to a week to see if that helps. Make sure that he is eating a drinking normally. What is the room temperature? Sorry about the fire, but I suppose he could have inhaled some fumes or hurt his head as well. Let us know about other symptoms, and how he gets along.

yeah see, he isnt tucking his head under his wing he is tucking it under his breast area. The room tempature ia around 70 degrees.

Sorry I misunderstood. That sounds like wry neck (torticolis) and can include walking backward or in circles, neck twisted up, down or to the side, and flipping over. It is a neurological issue that can be treated with poultry vitamins that include E and selenium. Selenium is available in eggs, tuna, and crushed nuts and seeds. Products that contain both are Poultry Nutri-drench or Poultry Cell, and the dosage is 1 ml per every 3 pounds of weight given orally. Wry neck can be a symptom of head injury, vitamin deficiency, Mareks, and other infectious diseases. Here is some info about it:

Thank you, but his leg is hurt so he cannot really walk.
