I use 15 min epoxy on styro all of the time, it will not eat or melt it. CA glue (Cyanoacrylate, aka Crazy glue) will melt foam, so don't use that. Caulking works too but it may take longer to dry and if you don't muy the right kind, it may not be as structural as epoxy.

The seller said that she has shipped them in the original box many many times with no problems, she even shipped one to NY the same day as mine, just fine. Like you said, it can be done.

The Postmaster was supposed to call me back yesterday and give me a number that I could call and complain. I haven't heard from her yet. Im trying really hard to remain calm!!!

Well, this one didn't. So, if this seller sells LOTS of these, he has decided to take the risk. Then, he knows the rules and should simply refund your money or send you another one. I have a small business and if something arrives broken/damaged, it is MY responsibility to make good on it. Then I can pursue damages through the carrier, not my customer.

As I sit here at 2am looking at the box that is damaged, I just get more angry. Let me say this: I am aware that I didn't get insurance. I realize that the box might could have been marked fragile or even in a better/stronger box. Now that this is out of the way,
AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS THAT THE STUPID USPS TOTALY SCREWED UP AND ISN'T DOING ANYTHING TO FIX IT?!?!?!?!? Okay, now that I have vented, i'll calm down.
*exhale* When I talked to the local Postmaster, she told me that since I didn't have the ins, there was nothing I could do. So let me get this straight. I pay the USPS to ship a package to me. It is damaged very badly and obviously. They more or less tell me that there is nothing they can do. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I understand why the insurance is offered. But is it wrong of me to expect my package to arrive in some sort of usable manner? That is what I pay for when I pay the USPS to ship it, is it not? That is like going to a sub shop and asking for a ham, cheese, and tomato sandwich and then paying for it and you look in the bag, they just tossed all the ingredients in the bad. So you go back and complain. They tell you since you didn't pay extra to have the ingredients put in the bread, that there is nothing they can do. Would that be okay? Heck no!!! So how is this any different? It would be different if the box was wet, or a flap was missing, or a corner was crushed a little. THE BOX HAD A CRUSH MARK ON THE BOTTOM AND A GASH THAT RUNS OVER HALF THE WIDTH OF THE BOX!!!!!!
Now then. I feel better. But just a little. I just want my bator

*By the way, the seller and I are working to resolve this on our end and I think as far as that goes, I will be happy. As far as the USPS, I mean it when I say that I will complain as far up the ladder as I can go. The seller an myself are going to try to gang up on them and see if that helps.

The USPS handles approximately 667 MILLION pieces of mail each day. A lot of his handling is done by machines, some is done by third parties. Mail can travel via air or land and be exposed to sudden shifts, turbulence, and any number of other things. It is inevitable that somewhere, somehow, some of those 667 million items are going to get damaged.

You paid to have the item delivered and they delivered it. Should it have arrived in one piece? Yes. But sometimes things happen. That's why the insurance is offered, so in the uncommon but possible event your item is damaged you have some recourse.

If it were me, rather that raising hell against an employee who isn't even at fault for the damage, I'd take it as a lesson to buy insurance next time, fix what I could, and get on with life. But again, as the daughter of a postal employee my view might be a bit skewed.

There is NO WAY this package got put on my front steps without a HUMAN putting it there. So the reason we pay to have things shipped via the USPS is just to get them from A to B regardless of the shape that the package arrives? Like I have said many times, this is not just a little damage. In my opinion, gross mishandeling by the PO. There are millions of pounds of ground beef processed each day. Lots of it by machines. If you found out that a HUMAN WORKER had let a package of tainted beef get to you the consumer, would you raise hell or would you just say, well its not their fault, they handle so many packages of beef that its inevitable that things like this will happen right? Why does the USPS think that it is the only place where coustomer service doesn't count? How can yo be sure the USPS empolyee wasn't responsable for the damage? They allowed it to get here in that manner and then will acecpt no blame what so ever. In my opinion, this is just another example of another govt agency thinking they are above reproch.

In any business transaction there is a reasonable expectation of a standard of care and professionalism. In this case the standard would be that the package is delivered intact. I understand that there are 667 million packages delivered daily, but the folks doing the deliveries for the USPS are professionals and their product (delivering packages) should be held to an industry standard.
