Utah!

Today is day 19 for my Ameraucana eggs, and i have 1 egg wobbling ALOT, its been wobbling non stop for hours. I am getting pretty excited. I have some Barnevelders hatching out 2 days after the Ameraucanas as well.

So just now i walked out to check on my chickens, and they are in their usually roosting places, but i notice my Silkie is not where she normally is. I looked around a bit, and found her sitting on the days eggs. She gave me a little growl when i walked by, so i gave her a few fertile eggs. Looks like i'll be hatching my first eggs under a broody! I'm pretty excited, lets just hope she'll be a good mom.

Sorry to hear about your loss Lilwanis I feel your pain, a while ago my grandpa, the toughest guy I ever knew, came down with alzheimers, he's healthy as a 20 year old, but in his 90's and he doesn't know who I am anymore, it sure does stink having to see him like that.

Wow, I've had quite a week! Today was hard and I am finally home. My grandmother passed away and the funeral was today. After her funeral, I ran straight to my stepdaughter's graduation. My hubby's babies are growing up, and mine aren't far behind. I haven't read all the posts since yesterday, but wanted to say hi

So sorry for you loss. I loved my grandmother soo much. My maternal grandmother. My best memories as a child are when I think back when we went to her place in VA. She had a nice little farm..so my love of chickens began.
Hope you were able to enjoy the graduation. It's such an exciting time for the kids. Not really kids anymore are they at that age.

Lil,
My sympathies.

Lil, glad there was something joyful for you after the funeral...quite a day to have both things going on. So sorry about your grandma! My maternal grandma raised me, so I know about special grandmas for sure. I got your pm back about the weekend, will message you as soon as I figure out what I am doing :)

Kyle, can't wait to see the chickies! Sphinx, are you done hatching after this next batch or do you think you still have more to set? I really really want to be done hatching, but much harder done than said...

Got to see Blujems tonight, my very very good friend :) And slvrphoenix, and the Monster as well. Good visit. Love going to visit out there!

Chicken train from Logan to SLC or back to Logan from SLC anyone? I am going in the next day or two. Karen, I think I will pass on your little Houdan, because of the age...I do not have any others to put with one that size. Thanks so much for asking though it is really tempting! If only she was a little bigger. Do you still want the EE's? You can have them if you want them, no bites on them and they need to go...also a NN Turken that is 8 wks old.

Also my Mom is coming to Logan from Blackfoot on June 29 if there needs to be a chicken train from Idaho to anyone this direction...she would do it if they could get to her house before she leaves.

So tired, so much gardening and yard work. Nearly done with the whole thing. We have a fully landscaped nearly 3/4 acre yard, and there are so many flower beds (what was I thinking when we did that??) It is a big chore to get everything weeded and re-mulched and re-planted each spring. Then the garden...and the chickens being moved in and out in the morning and night, I am pooped! So glad to have it done, now just watering....we do not have a sprinkler sytem! :smack

Someday! ***sigh**** Good thing I am home a lot!

Lisa, you are crazy to have that many flower beds. I don't know how you have time.

Kyle, good luck with your hatch!!

I definitely have to be done hatching, at least for a while, after this one- I'm going out of town and won't be around to watch the babies/eggs. I had one egg hatch overnight. I feel pretty sure that the others are dead in shell. I think broody was off them too long and they died. I need to find a chick that was hatched in the last day or two to be a buddy for this new one. In a few, I'm going to attempt to move broody out to the leper colony again, and stick this baby under her and see how it goes.

Sorry I didn't  chat much I need to get that stand ready for the next guess to pick up.

That is totally fine, I could see you were busy, you know me I chat too much anyway lol my ten minute visits are always at least an hour :) Hope I did not wear your cute wife out!

Sphinx, I am going to try to follow your example and be done :p My sg eggs are hatching this morning, they are not due til tomorrow morning, but it goes this way... so funny I went up to the bator, all was quiet, then I could see through the window and empty egg, and there was a little one huddled in the corner just as quiet as can be. I have yet to hear her cheep! i put her in the brooder, and she is just looking around wide-eyed so cute. Not a word. Here is the even funnier thing...these were supposed to be white SG bred to white SG, i was worried about the bowties not being so big but thinking it was ok because they would hatch out way more SG than silkies....but this one is a little silkie, and not looking white at all, maybe partridge or buff...could be splash but the top looks really more brown. Will need to wait for her to dry and see for sure. She has the five toes and fully black skin, but fully feathered neck lol. What a cutie, I am loving that she is so stil and quiet, and she was very much liking when I was holding her. Pics will follow in a few hours! Crossing fingers for some white SG though!

Lisa, I may have to buy one of the silkies from you. I'm not terribly interested in a sg, but a silkie..... oh, a silkie!

I've called around all the stores around here, and the youngest chick I can find is a week old. I'm concerned about my little singleton. She needs a buddy.
