Utah!

Haha
Did you check your other birds

I luv, her little buzz cut actually looks quite cute! Glad to hear she is perking up some!

Haha oh good :) well it's the first time I've been able to see her face in a long time at least haha I hope it grows back just as big as she had.
Ya I checked the rest of the chickens and they all had them to at different degrees but none as severe as Ellie, poor girl. I wonder why that is. Hers was 4 times worse then theirs. I treated each one. I used poultry protector and sprayed their heads down to their shoulders. That's where they all were at. Must work good cause the bugs were not moving. Then sprinkled the powder over their bodies. I raked out all the bedding in their coop and sprinkled the big powder inside there to and laid fresh bedding, then to top it off that I sprinkled the powder on the dirt ground in their run. I'm going to treat them every few months from here on.

here are pictures of my other birds that I showed they all won first place. in their class I was amazed because they are just my yard chickens,

Cotton best cochin. I bought her at chicken stock from a little girl. there were 5 cochins

Chrissty my Duncle Mille Fleur only Duncle

GBO: What did you put in this year? There were some nice bantams, I figured some of those had to be yours! They have only been putting the scratch on the floors of cages again this year as far as I could tell. I super hate the moving them from cage to cage, might have to check out the BE Fair next year, I have never been!
You should come and check it out this year and see what you think. I have been to the State Fair and BE's is actually a bigger fair than the state fair is. The poultry building is about double the size of Cache County so I would assume that the competition is a bit steeper but you should come over and check it out. :)

where is the fair held in Box elder county?

im not sure were you are located but i have a 50lb bag of Diatomaceous earth. It works really good but it takes 3 treatments over 15 days. It works really good on silkies due to their feather structure. You are more then welcome to come get some from me. Mabe i could even talk you into a Silkie chick :)
Just saw this lol. Thanks for offering the DE. I think im gonna see how well this stuff works that I just got. I used a powder on the chickens, and their coop called Hi-yeild Garden, pet & livestock dust. I also sprayed all of them with poultry protector. About your chicks.. Very tempting haha. I've seen them on ksl and have to retrain myself lol. If you hang onto that cute red looking partridge with the darker stripes for 4-6 weeks and see how it's looking, i might take it from ya then ;) But now that I am past the whole lamp phase with all of mine, im not sure I want to go back.. for now lol. I think I probably have enough chickens, but I'm always tempted with new colors though, especially ones with vaults ;) lol.

Lisa do you have any pullets left?

I have 2 two-yr olds left right now. I have a couple pullets I may sell in a few weeks, I am waiting to see what color egg they lay. They are OE, but may lay dark brown. I want to be sure I get at least a few OE from the bunch :D That will be the tail end of this springs hatch to sell.

I sold over 30 chickens last week. Woot! Finally have it whittled down. Good thing, because my babies at Liz' house hatch Sunday  haha, and I have some here in a couple weeks. My run is looking pretty good right now though, I got rid of that mean old hen that was beating every body up. It was hard to get rid of her, nobody wanted her...she was stinker. It has been so quiet out there!

Congrats sundance! Those are some pretty birds. I love the little frizzle cochin. I have a white frizzle from you now. I know it's one of Hurculese, who is the mama..pure white little girl..will she get lager than a cochin? Also, a blue frizzle. And, that one that looked to be a legbar to you, is a girl. I am loving the little one from the white egg. It looks like a Unicorn right now. They are all pretty..frizzly. :)

Iluv, I'm glad your baby is coming around. You really are doing a great job. I think she still looks pretty..she right? Has to feeling much better. They were sucking the life out of her. :/

isn't it in Tremonton?

Edit :  yep, it is ;)  I used to go there all the time as a kid. LOVED the fair. Always got to bake cookies and do ceramics to enter in every year :)

Just judging by the link it already looks more organized and fun than the fair over here. I like that they list out some of the breeds...and they accept quail!
Best part--pre-registration, and then they figure out where they want to cage the bird beforehand, so no moving. I wish ours would do that!

We love the State fair! The Davis county fair is fun but pretty small. Our kiddos love fairs! Maybe we'll have to come up. Do you know if they have a rodeo?
