So the post on the coupons. Made me wonder how much people pay for food and what you feed. I will start $10.00 a 50 lb bag of layer mix.

Now I can't find my ad :( Will have to see what the store has, maybe they have ads in there. I pay about $15.99 for crumbles or pellets at CAL, sometimes on sale for 12.99 or 13.99. If I get layer mash at IFA it is 19.99. All 50# bags. Holy cow where do you get it for 10.99? That is way cheaper than what we have here.

Then I buy scratch, I think it is 12.99 for 50#, and throw that around. Then I feed scraps when we have them, all the crushed egg shells from what we use, and let them forage around the yard during the warmer months. If i let them forage this time of year they just dig big holes in my flower beds and kick mulch all over the grass so they have been grounded the last month or two from foraging and are eating a lot more feed.

Well, I have two lavender babies out, and another real close. They are a pretty color all right. No blacks..lol...
I got sort of a pic of the first one, but the flash on the window just doesn't do it. Will get pics up probably tomorrow of them all.

Not a great picture, but here is a wet chick. Pretty while wet, love the color when they are dry..like my bantam cochins.

i went but they were out of feed at my store so i will go again in a day or two. but its good because i could not fit anymore in the car, i had 3 bales of shavings. i forget what i pay for feed but i just get the 18% all flock pellets from cal ranch and its a 50lb. for scratch i just make a custom mix out of whole grain i get at ifa because that way i feed what they eat and there is not any waste. last mix i made was black oil sunflower seeds, oats, milo, peanuts inn shell, dry pasta, and any other thing i decide to throw in. next time i will also add wheat and maybe some other things. i also add de. then i mix it with my mixer paddle on my drill and store it in a metal trash can

Spoiled chickens! That sounds yummy enough to eat..lol.. I also store in metal cans. I can take my metal trash can down to Leland Mills and get a deal on filling it with lay mash.
You ad DE to your food? Hmm, good idea..how much?

I have 6 babies out now, and, one rockin and rollin... :)
