Utah!

Sad day for me.  This morning one of our silkies did his first attempt at a crow. :(    These chickens are our pets and we live in the city so we can't keep him.  I am so worried about trying to rehome him and have him go somewhere bad.

Awww man that is sad! I hate it when I find out there is a boy.....you get so attached! Hopefully somebody on here will snatch him up :) I actually contemplated trying to put a roo in the garage at night and keeping it there until the morning crowing was over.....then I realized they don't just crow in the morning :(

Ahhh, Happy2BHere, I'm sorry that your silkie started trying to crow. :-( I think the overwhelming majority of chicken people are really, really decent, and most likely you'll easily find a good home for him.

Moriah, you are so sweet!

Lisa, good luck with the chicken shuttle. If you want to meet up as you come through my neck of the woods, just to say hi, or get company as you go south, let me know.

I can't believe how much my littlest babies have grown while i was gone. The coronation sussex is starting to show the lavender feathers around the neck. I *think* I have a buyer for my 5 extra BLRW. I had someone from South Jordan offer to buy them if I could meet them in the salt lake valley somewhere. Then, I had a 14 year old local to me want to buy them. I've met this kid and he was my first choice, but he never showed up last night like he was supposed to, so I think I'll makes arrangements with the SJ person.

Once those guys are gone, I'll just have two pullets I'm raising for my SIL (a lavender ameraucana and a blrw). We're just waiting for them to be big enough to hang with her adult hens. Then, it'll be my permanent flock unless one of my three babies turns out to be a boy, which is entirely possible. I may have to show you guys pictures.

Sphinx--how many will you have in your flock if all three are girls? Just wondering how many you will keep in that new size coop, I am trying to decide how many I dare keep, mine is feeling way too small again :he

I won't be going south for awhile, it is all north so far. But I will have to just make a day to come down, we could go to lunch sometime :) Ooooorrrrr you could come north for a bbq with the kids after we get back from our vacations :weee then our boys could get together. He has a new playhouse that is really awesome !

Aww Happy, sorry about your roo. It's hard to have to give up a pet, anyway. I've been grateful that most of my birds have turned out to be girls *shifty eyes at the Icelandic chicks* Ahem! I'm very fortunate to have somewhere that I can keep my boys when they start crowing, though. I wouldn't give up my Wyandotte for anything - he's such a sweetiepie. Good luck in rehoming your little cockerel!

I can relate. I can't keep roos. Wish I could! You get pretty close to them, watching them become their silly selves, and then that happens. I hope you find someone that can keep him forever and forever.

Ok, I'll admit, I'm a bit confused on all this shuttle business, but I think most of it is going on up north way.
But, is Sasha still stopping by this way for Red's most beautiful, and gorgeous Exchequer? Around the first part of the month, right?

Off to what I am guessing, my last Neuro. appt. Maybe he's going to tell me I can sky dive now.

good luck on skydiving! Way to set your goals high girl!! haha :) I hope he clears you for as much activity as possible.
BTW How do your showgirls eggs look, any luck with the last three? If Sasha stops for the welsummer and exchequer, and you do end up with an extra showgirl I am still on board with that :) If not we will try next time. I know there will be a next time haha :) What kind of eggs are you getting from your contest--I can't remember if you mentioned it?

Red, is your baby Icelandic from Cynthia looking girlie still? I have to say, that every chick I get from Cynthia, other than the day olds, have been girls. She knows her stuff. Cynthia, all the ameraucanas you sent with Red for me are girls. Two black, 1 blue, and the splash that blujems has. Yay! And the poofs on one of the blacks are getting huge. I need to get pics up, pretty pretty girls. I thought when you sent three, oh dear I will only be able to keep one but I am not parting with any of them, they are all turning out way too nice :) I will put some flock pics up tomorrow after I pick up these chicks tonight. I have been drooling over this breeders birds for months her waiting list was huge..... I cannot believe I am finally getting some! Her waiting list for this year was full but it worked out miraculously so I when she called I was so so so happy :) :yesss:

Okay this chicken shuttle can all take place on the 2nd of July. I'll be coming up I 15 all the way from St. George to Idaho Falls. I can stop anywhere on the way. Cynthia I can pick up whatever chickens need to be picked up from you and happy2bhere I'm happy to bring you back chicks from birdguy. (sorry about your little roo

Silkies should be exempt from the no rooster rule ha can you tell I have Silkies) It will help break up my very long drive and keep it interesting as I will be driving by myself. Well that is myself and the chickens. So Lisa get my route figure out for me and let me know will ya?
