Utah!

Lisa, go to post 7 on this thread. I also got mine from Ideal..and, I have noticed the last couple of days, that the wings are getting dark in them..wondering if they will be splash? I thought the body was supposed to be all white! All of them are getting the color in the wings. Wonder if they will look like this one, which I also don't mind, still different.

Another post of the whites..there's a lot of black in the body,

Just letting you know what could happen here! I was hoping for a pure white body. But, they are unusual. Maybe you've already checked them out and noticed..sundance, you too..letting you know they will have black in the wings. Or grey, it's looks pretty light.

I see what you mean. It is ok with me, the pics of the all whites were GORGEOUS for sure, haha, but if they turn out more splash that is ok with me. I have heard the lacing is bad in their SL and GL but I think it is worth a try. We might as well see what they turn out like. :) I sure do appreciate you telling me though, you are so good to make sure its ok. That is why we love ya ! ;)

To me if there is one that is sweet and friendly, that makes up for so/so feathers. But I really like nice eggs and don't know how well these will lay....time will tell! I have been really happy with my Blue (white crest) and my Golden Laced, they were both from IFA. My blue girl is adorable, and really friendly, the golden laced is more flighty and jumpy, but never ever is aggressive with the others and gets along well, that goes a long way to staying in my flock for sure after I got rid of all the meanies. Still no eggs from either, they are 24 ish weeks old.

Cynthia, on the polish breeders club website, did you see the white crested Khakis? They are under breeds....the pics are

Have not seen those before, me likes

Oh my goodness! Gorgeous! How many different colors can there be? I really do like that color. Oh dear.

This thread seems to have quieted down in the last week or so. I'm guessing that everyone's busy with Summer ending and school starting? Hope everyone is well!

So I've been watching the two turkeys, and I'm still thinking I have one boy, one girl. They have been dubbed Peter and Punkin, respectively, by my mom

Peter is now getting large enough that he's a force to be reckoned with. If he feels that one of the chickens are getting too far into 'his' flock's personal bubble, he will chase them. He's gotten into it with a couple of the cockerels, but now that he weighs twice as much as them and is just as big, he wins the squabbles and chases them off, then comes back and displays for Punkin. No one really gets hurt, and it's kind of funny to watch. They both like to follow my brother and I around the yard, and they're very friendly to us. I'm enjoying having turkeys so much. I think at some point in the future, I may well consider getting a breeding pair of heritage turkeys. I'd love some Royal Palms, or possibly some Sweetgrass or some kind of blue/slate coloration.

Okay, a little more of my small news. The two Icee cockerels have been in the same pen as the Icee pullet and her three pullet buddies (EE/Leghorn, Welsummer, Exchequer) The boys seemed to like hopping up on top of the feed and water bottles, so after some observation, I found a scrap piece of wood trim and slid it into their cage. The boys figured out that it was a perch in minutes, and two nights later, I found the girls roosting up there with them. Fast learners! It's so fun to watch them grow.

Lisa, I really, seriously am wondering now if Stevie is a girl. I need to dig back through this thread and find that picture of the roo Blu and Phoenix had to compare traits.

Thanks! He's very tasty, and he was a gorgeous animal. I wish so bad I'd had the salt on hand to preserve that hide and take it home. Next year, I'll be better prepared.

Red, school starts this week (tomorrow) here, that is my excuse. So many posts I have wanted to comment on, tease, be sarcastic, and be a general hooligan but have not had enough time. Plus a very sick daughter :(

Stevie by now should definitely be getting the saddle feathers and all that hullabaloo don't ya think? The blue girls I had looked just had a standard buff orp shape to them only blue. With darker blackish/blue heads. The roo out at Cindy's house had lots of lighter hackle feathers, with some darker ones I think? Pretty boy, and he was HUGE. If I can find the pics I will post, I had some saved on my computer a while back. You should post Stevie for us. You can call her Stevie Nicks right? lol

Your turkeys sound fun, I may do it next year, will see what kind of pen we build....still debating a goat (s). :)

My RIR just squatted! My RIR squatted!
ya.gif
My brother went to give her a good back scratch and razz her a bit, and she dropped into a squat. I was so surprised, I asked him to do it again, so he did, and she dropped a second time! He felt awkward about it, poor guy, but I asked him to scratch the BSL's back when he gets a chance, too. I've never had the RIR squat for me (how insulting) And, someone's been kicking the grass around in the nest spot with the golf ball over the last couple of days. I wonder if the RIR is checking it out?

Lisa, so sorry your daughter is sick

I hope she gets feeling better soon. How long has she been sick? I'll have to get a picture of Stevie for you to see.

And, the smaller turkey poult just displayed. So I could well have two boys.
