I just wanted to give a little mini-report on my first month of "real" low-carbing. Previously, I had had limited success with just cutting obvious sources of sugar, but I'd lurked on low-carb forums and read several books so was finally ready to give it a shot. It's not really a whole month until Monday, but as of today:
Weight: I've lost 16 pounds
Waist measurement: I've lost 6 inches
Clothing: I'm down one clothing size, AND one bra size (WOO-HOO!!)
Energy: Definite increase
Sleeping: Improved
Chronic IBS symptoms: Vanished
Hunger/Cravings: None, except for chocolate, and Wifezilla helped me out there!
And it's too early to tell, really, but I'm starting to think that maybe my awful horrible terrible uber-dry skin is improving. Just in the last week I've really started pounding down the Omega 3 fats, and that seems to have boosted my weight-loss, and may be helping my skin.
I'm going to wait a few more months before having bloodwork done, but that should be interesting.
Notably, I am nearly certain that I'm consuming more *calories* than I was before. I'm definitely not counting them. And I've traded in all my low-fat stuff for regular, full-fat versions.
One area that I can tell I'm going to have to start watching soon is dairy. I can see how over-reliance on dairy products could eventually stall weight-loss efforts. But right now, OH, the joy of having a nice slab of aged Seaside Cheddar, tasting the cream in it, and NOT feeling guilty!
