A family friend got me a button buck. I haven't heard of many people having much luck though in my area.

2 big does so far, 1 with my bow, the other with a muzzle loader.
 
This guy has been visiting the mineral rock at our game camera. We only hunt with cameras. This past Monday was the first day of deer season around here ~ hopefully he is still around.

Oh i love venison .so shot one for me every year, my sons each take one also.....All my pics taken from camera in hand most within a few yards. Had 5 in my front yard today and gun season is in this week.
 
I used to be anti hunting until I realized how much more healthy the meat is and learned about the crap in our FDA approved food at the grocery store. If I could, I would hunt and grow my own exclusively. I don't have the land for it at the moment though. Grow as much as a can for now and have my 3 little chickies. I really like the idea of meat that only has the one bad day.
Brother just called and he got one already today so maybe thats good news for hubby and boy wonder tomorrow! They will be hunting the same land. Im looking at deer jerky recipes..if anyone has a tried and true one you would like to post, go for it. Hope im not counting venison before it hatches

The DH got a really nice 9pt buck with his bow. Our youngest DD and myself are still deerless, but we still have some bow hunting time left.

Plucking ducks was bad, decided to just skin and save fat. Would rendering fat with feathers make the fat taste gross?
