Waiting on a call back! Hoping to get a hold of her soon before I head to the feed store. Only one feed store is open tomorrow.
Valbazen looks like it treats both types and I could potentially give it to the whole flock. Wazine and Ivermectin may be options as well from what I have read. I would trust their expertise though!

Ask about egg/meat withdrawal for what ever meds they suggest.

They have coccidia, tapeworms and roundworms! He didn't recommend anything in particular, just that I get a dewormer and get them treated for both. They have Corid and Wazine at the feed store, so I am going to start with those. Valbazen too if they have it, as it is the only one I researched that treats the tapeworms too.

Egg withdrawal, 2 weeks after I finish treatment. I'm also throwing out the eggs I've collected the past week after seeing gross roundworm photos! I have a dozen and a half from a friend's flock, so that seems fine to me! Yucky!

There are studies that shows Vabazen or Safeguard will tapes, but several people here on BYC haven't had much luck using them.

Wazine (piperazine) will usually treat large roundworms if they drink enough medicated water.
Ivermectin probably does large roundworms, but does not treat tapes, gapes, or capillary worms.
Praziquantel (Droncit) treats tapes better than any other wormer.

Equimax horse paste has ivermectin and praziquantel.

Wormout Gel will treat all worms.
Wormout Tabs will treat all worms.

Keep in mind that in he US none of these are "approved" for laying hens. They aren't banned, so they can be used if you follow proper egg withdrawal.

Some of the drugs mentioned are approved for laying hens in Canada and the UK.

Ok, there is a lady at the feed store that I'm praying is there this afternoon! When I small mammals vet clinic they said, "Go talk to Susan". If she's there I'm sure she will give her best advice too. Would you have any idea how to dose Equimax for a flock? I will see if they have wormout also. Is Corid the main treatment for coccidiosis?

Should I be treating everyone since they have all been likely exposed? What's more important? Treating coccidiosis or roundworms or tapeworms? so many questions! I am a bit of a perfectionist and bad at making decisions, but if you tell me to trust my chicken mam intuition, I can do that.

I guessed that was the reason it wasn't approved in the US. I will likely follow the instructions on the bottle if they are there. We have enough eggs, I can get rid of some for awhile. My daughter was just saying how badly she is craving to throw eggs.... haha.

I think the only drug that hasn't been part of a drug residue study is praziquatel... Have seen residue recommendations for Valbazen, Safeguard, ivermectin, and I've also seen it for one of he drugs in Wormout Gel, though not sure.

When deciding whether or not to worm one must look at the whole picture. In this case it's a flock where one just died, and before death was exibiting sign that could have been caused by worms. Now another has abnormal droppings and a positive fecal.

What would you all say if I told you about someone who had a hen on deaths door that had a negative fecal, but three days later they did another fecl and found a massive capillary worm and coccidia infestation?
