Crowing
Boooooo. They evidently ran out so I got pushed to next week. I am *hoping* they were about to notify me and not just leave me wondering. You could call them, just to ask. They are super nice to work with!

They've probably been busy all morning, I don't think they have many offices employees.Boooooo. They evidently ran out so I got pushed to next week. I am *hoping* they were about to notify me and not just leave me wondering.
You’re right. I should be more patient, especially since they seem to be a smaller operation that McMurray and the other “big names.” I was just soooo excited. Like a mom on her due dateThey've probably been busy all morning, I don't think they have many offices employees.
They'll come through
Totally agree- ring them up!You could call them, just to ask. They are super nice to work with!
That happened to me too. I ordered them with the idea they would be coming in 5-6 days, but when I got the confirmation a few days later the actual shipping date was for almost 3 weeks later. They've probably been busy all morning, I don't think they have many offices employees.

Sounds like a good plan. I wasn't planning on ordering chicks at all this year but a few people wanted to order and I'm the person they ordered through. I threw in 3 for myself, I ordered from Cacklehatchery this time but I really wish I could get more barnvelders from Mt. Healthy, beautiful eggs. That happened to me too. I was a little disappointed but it gave me time to better prepare.
If you don't have the brooder setup yet, or you haven't tested your heating plate brooder or red light if that's what you are using, now is the time.
We didn't start the coop because it rained every weekend. I said, well at least we have a month after they come before they need to go outside.
We are doing our coop as cheaply and securely as possible. We picked up a ton of pallets which have to be broken down, got OBS and painted it, we are using an old fancy metal door that's almost all window for the center of one of the walls.
The coop is an 8*8 and we are making a run partially under our storage container then another 10*10 attached in the yard.
We are building it with the forest for wind break on one side and then the storage container on another. We get a lot of rain with high winds. Thankfully a pretty temperate climate.
We are very rural and right by a lake with a lot of black bears amongst other predators.
We are building it 18 inches off the ground. All the posts cemented in 3 feet deep. And we are putting a 5 wire electric fence. It's all necessary or they will be lunch for a black bear.
Any way my long winded point is they are two weeks old and we are probably still a week away from being finished. We expected to be completely done a week ago.
So if there is anything you haven't done, this will be a good opportunity.
I chose Mt Healthy because they were the only hatchery that had a variety of sexed chicks that would be available for months. But I am happy with my choice. I will order from them again.
That was rambling, it gives you an idea of how busy I have been, I didn't expect them to take as much time as they do. I am super fussy but I spent at least an hour just cleaning their brooder, then spot cleaning throughout the day, checking for pasty butt and another hour socializing them. I didn't expect 3 hours minimum a day for baby chicks.
I can't wait to see pictures when they arrive. We can compare since we got the same rare variety order.
What breeds did you end up with in the assortment? I was going to add a couple to the specific breeds I ordered, and when I went back to do it the assortment was sold out that date. Maybe next year! That happened to me too.
