Vet tech gets bit - Dog now on death row

I was a Vet Tech, And yes you do expect to get bit. In fact it is your job to make sure if the animal bites at all it bites you. In this case it does not sound like the Dog was actually being worked on. My guess is the tech was going to cut of the dogs identify collar or something and made a wrong move near a known skittish breed of dog. I have had to restrain a St. Bernard while surgery was preformed without anastesia. Yes it is dangerous, a dog will bite you when you inflict pain on it, you are also trained to prevent them from doing so but if you fail you are also trained to stuff your arm in the dogs mouth. In fact you hold the dog in such a way that one hand stops it from being able to bite and the other arm is positioned to be the nearest thing to bite. Vet Tech is a fancy word for chew toy....just kidding, but yes you accept the risk of being bitten when you take such a job. By the way I was nipped twice. Both times by Chihuahua's. they are terrified little guys and they bite.

That is ridiculous! I hope things work out ok for that poor family! So now are we supposed to make our vets sign a waiver that they can't hold the dog responsible if they get bitten!

Unbelieveable! That vet would be waiting for quite a long time to get their bill paid and I would look into sueing them for damages and any costs associated with this mess!

i signed it and made this comment "that vet tech is just trying to get money for the bite. insurance/workmans comp. the economy is bad and so are some peoples morals right now...."

Bee Keepers get stung, Cattle Herdsmen get kicked, nurses get stuck, iron worker's get burned, hair dresser's get soap in their eyes....come on it's part of the dang job.

I posted on the new story as well and posted in on my facebook. Next...I am sending a scathing email to the City and that vet hospital if I can locate an email address for them.

My 10lb ChiChi went off on a vet tech once and went up her forearm like a buzz saw after sticking a needle in a hip that was injured as puppy. Whose fault was it? Hers...she knew it, was warned about giving a shot on that side, she did and got bit. Did she sue? Nope, she told me she was sorry.

Yes they dope them up pretty well for dental procedures.....the tool they use sounds like a high pitch dremel. I do not know of too many animals who would just sit though something like that.

I would not be so quick to pin the Vet Tech; the city could just be doing this all on their own because they can. My dog bit my niece and sine he punctured skin we had to take her to the Hospital where the police were called and so on; our saving grace was that the dog lived in one county and the bite occured in another. I guess there is some kind of invisible line preventing the police from talking to each other about things like this..... anyway all we had to do was prove he had his shots and keep him home for 14 days.

How about idiotic city workers.......

I have been bit a couple of times. Once on the ear by my neighbors dog and a couple of times by my husbands blue heeler. It is not fun.

I do feel for the owners and the vet tech. A face bite can leave scars. My son has a scar on his face from when his blue heeler bit him.

Just a sad situation for all of those invloved.
