I’m SO sorry everyone! We had been on vacation and then I had some problems with the incubator.

After about 6 days though,
there wasn’t any growth in the eggs. Then again, there was some incubator trouble so I’m going to try again now that we’re back home!

HOWEVER, we are starting to really think that our “Penny” is a “Lincoln” haha they’re about 7 months old now and our buff Orpington still hasn’t laid. She/he has never crowed but definitely has more roo characteristics now (like running after our cat when she goes in their gated area). We’ve never had a rooster before but she/he has some longer feathers by its booty that look like saddle feathers (I’ve attached a pic below). We’ve also have never seen them try to mate but I’ll try to incubate some eggs again this week and see:idunno
That's a rooster in training :)

I'm undecided .... Could we get an individual picture of the Buff in question, standing on its own from the side and the top. My eyes (old) are not seeing any saddle nor hackle but Buffs are slow maturing, at 7 months it maybe another month to be for sure.

This is one of my Buff pullets at 7 months, she really had me nervous but laying

This is weird. The buff in the top pic seems to have both rounded and pointy saddle feathers. I'm gonna guess it's a He.
But there ain't no dang telling! The only way to know, is if they lay an egg or crow!

Still looks like a pullet

It looks fertile here too. The dot is the embryo pre development. My friend had a hermaphrodite chicken, rooster on the outside but hen on the inside. Very bizarre, and rare. No calls from the bird either. It was found it was a hermaphrodite when they butchered it and found eggs.

Alright everyone I think that we have finally figured out the mystery!! I have incubated the eggs and there was no development.
And even though our tiny 7 month old Buff hasn’t laid yet, she finally squatted for us today and I’ve heard that roos do not squat!

Does that’s solve it???:fl

I’m honestly hoping so because if she was a roo, my husband was going to get more chickens and we don’t need anymore!:lau
