Visitor to my coop

Great job BlueShadow, snakes are not going to try and harm humans, we are to big for a meal and unless we threaten them, they just want to get away. Most poisonous snakes are the same way, the only "aggressive" snake I know of is the Cottonmouth also known as the water moccasin, they will chase a threat or if you have a stringer of fish in hand they might come after you. I've had these buggers try to get into my boat with me while fishing. Unless the snake is after your eggs, they are just hunting rodents, which we don't want around anyway, so I let them do their job.

Yes, the snake. I thought only rattle snakes have rattles, and have never lived in Nebraska, so I'm not familiar with the fox snakes. Your bird is really nice too. Mary

Only rattlesnakes have rattles, but there are many species of snake that vibrate their tail to make a buzzing sound that is similar to a rattle. The purpose is the same - to scare away potential threats.

BTW... Spider webs are a inexpensive way to control fly's. At least outdoors... Of course. Instead of chemical pesticides that run off any pollute water and kill honey bees. Not a tree hugger, just aware.
