Vultures again

He's doing good. He's perky and walking fine, eating and drinking, fought back when I was putting the gauze on. I'm really worried about infection, though. And he is such an outgoing boy, he'll stand on you feet and peep up at you and crawl into your lap if you're sitting on the ground. His name is Blue from the Jurassic World raptors, and his bands are Left Blue Blue.

Poor Rexy, poor poor blind Rexy. I can't imagine how she must have felt, not knowing what was going on, I hope she went fast. r.i.p.
Oh I know such a sad thing to happen to her and your right no way of knowing i hope it was quick too.
So what is the plan i would be terrified to leave them out in the open knowing this could happen again.

I hope Blue will be okay too Vultures probably have alot of bacteria in their mouths since they eat dead things, Hopefully the vet will know what to do. Did you wash his wounds out good with saline?

Yes I did, and I've been cleaning it whenever I change his bandages.

Let us know what the vet says about him and also ask about these vultures attacking live animals. This is baffling seems they would have to be starving and see your geese as interfering with getting to food is the means of attacking? I don't know but what other reason?

I live in KY and it is illegal to kill vultures but if there is a problem you can get a permit to kill them. I do see vultures hanging around calving cows but the are after the after birth. I did see a special on vultures and they were eating live penguin chicks. so I would not be surprise if they go after ducklings and goslings. I would get in touch with your conservation people and fine out why they are there and they might have a solution to get rid of them. I have them in my field some time but my donkey goes after them .I sorry for your lose good luck.

Devil bird, they are legal to shoot here.

Somewhere I read a guy talking about seeing Vultures chase rabbits in a circle (out west) , until it was exhausted and then kill and eat them. There is a lot of :"oh, no, Nat. Geo. says they don't do that" ...smart predators will a strong will to survive can and do "break the rules/norms"like the coyotes/coydogs/woves /bears going after larger animals including people and kids....Once a smart predator stumbles on a way to survive they remember and teach the young. I have seen younger birds "learn from the olders, I keep older ones around to teach them my herding lessons, and what to eat.... We have vultures here that come in large numbers during calving season to cleanup after the cows, and also when the farmers cut the hay and corn, they come find the smaller critters that got run over by the machines. I have had them circle my birds, but I have dogs and geese next to the/with
ducks so they haven't tried yet.
