Yep. Good strong pack of ridiculous numbers last count, should be 11 less now with her officially gone. Funny thing is I haven't, nor have my neighbors, shot/trapped a male. They seem less likely to wander into our areas. They've hunted my neighbors calves down on many occasion and their denning area is so close I'm out everynight listening to their yodeling. A few weeks ago we called them up, and had ten or more around the base of the stand trying to find the stranger on their turf. Small, but numerous.
When she was originally shot, she turned just as I pulled the trigger and it went through her ear and grazed her shoulder. Just enough for an infection. I always shoot to kill, but as close to the den as we ar there was no way of knowing if she died or not until she showed up again. Infection and poison are big factors that could be played. Her shoulder was NASTY looking, and she smelled so bad I puked...
Everyone gets locked up tight at night, with auto lights that go right into my face if something triggers them. They haven't really been coming up lately, not to say she wasn't just the first of many to return. The den was recently moved and they're less than 1/8 a mile from me now. The ravine is 500 yards into the woodline and tracks constantly through there... Oh well, she makes number 11 out of that pack so I HOPE were not seeing them because numbers are low.
