Walmart feed

I found that mixing my own was not only cost effective for me but also a better health choice for the birds. There is a thread on here about that... I guarantee most of you would want to eat my feed... it smells like graham crackers... It is wonderful... good recipes on the other thread... There is something right about chickens eating food we would want to eat...After all, we eat their eggs and meat.

Never saw chicken feed in Walmart here in Canada. I don't know if price makes a difference but I know brands do. A friend of mine was happily feeding her chickens a certain kind and gave away her extra eggs until one particular receiver of the eggs complained her free eggs tasted like fish. She never noticed but she switched feed mills and received no more complaints. So, its probably best to read labels and give whatever left overs from your table and fridge that you can.

I dont know about Alaska but if that happened anywhere in the lower 48 they would be on this story and have it solved like white on rice. And even moreso with somebody like walmart.(dont they have lawsuits in Alaska ?

Okay what is this about Manna pro I bought a small bag at Tractor Supply about a month ago and mixed it into a 50 lb. container of Flock Raiser from Purina, Is it going to kill my chickens? did they have a recall? I never watch the news or read the paper so I wouldn't know unless someone said something on here about it,

Personally, I would not buy feed from Wal*Mart because, as stated before, "Who knows where it came from?!"

I was told by a very close friend that worked for Wal*Mart for awhile that when they have a salesman go to the docks to bid on food they wait and nthen buy the cheapest that there is! Therefore, I would DEFINITELY not buy from them!

I get my grain through Paris Farmers Union (local feed store). I get them Blue Seal Layer Pellets which are somewhere around $23 per 100 lbs. I figured out that I can feed a chicken for $0.50 a day!! YAY!!

The crumbles are multiple dollars more so I only get them when pellets are out of stock...
