Want to hatch along? My first incubation :0) Lockdown tomorrow 9-3-11

Does anyone know when our hen will let us see the chick?

Cattitude - your birds look amazing! Are the black ones La Fleche?

I would but, I no longer have the roo that I got these eggs from. I sold him right after I collected the eggs. It has been over 19 days now since we had the roo so if I went out and got an egg now it probably isn't fertile.

I didn't candle because, I don't know how. I have tried with two past broody hatches and I couldn't see through the eggs. I think I will have to buy a candler from a hatchery before I can candle.

I would pick the hen up and set her at her water and food. You will probably only get to peek for a minute cause, she will go strait back but, at least you will get a peek.

Thank you! Mr and Miz Rose are Black Rosecombs. The pair are quite fertile. Miz Rose has laid an egg nearly every day since I bought the pair last spring, including the day I bought them. I've had only one or two infertile eggs the whole time I've had them. I tell my folks that we're going to be overrun with little black chickens.

Their sons are some good looking roosters, and the daughters should begin to lay eggs before true cold weather sets in. I've been well pleased with them! Thank you again!

3 eggs have pipped this morning...it is 7.15 in UK.
13 more not as yet but i can't see the other side of them as the incubator has only one side to view.
have to be out now for a while.......
so exciting. they are due tomorrow.

Elizabeth Mary has another baby! A lavender Araucana. I will take out the camera and show the boys the chicks - before they leave this morning, and hopefully get some pictures.

Edit: And while we went to the train station Southcliff popped out! Now we have three: Scalby, Newby and Southcliff. There is another one pipping at the moment...

Edit: And another is now out!!! So I have a male and female cream legbar (the different colours for the sexes thing is really useful), and two lavender araucana. I'm really pleased because I've been trying to hatch lavender araucana for ages - but no luck because of either incubator misuse or damage because the eggs were sent in the post.

Just two viable eggs left - one is moving but the airsac is massive - like half the egg. Should I help?
