Wanted: Ayam Cemani Hatching Eggs

I haven't seen any pictures of anyone who claims to have ayam cemani. It appears everyone who is selling them is scamming people in my opinion. Without showing what you have then we cannot determine as consumers if what you have is worth the money your asking.

Most breeders don't post photos, especially since their photos get stolen and used by scammers. So you usually have to email or PM breeders for photos.

Very true! Didn't think about that. I have seen a lot of pics that the breeders have there name across the pic kinda faded out! Idk if a scammer could remove that or not. I was contacted by a person who wanted me to pay 1,999 for a bird and then help sneak it into the country! Would never send pics or anything. Really? Idk about anyone else but I don't have 1.999 to toss up in the wind! Then need 3 times as much to get out of jail for sneaking a BIRD! Into the US.

I'm not sure I understand that explanation. How do you know if you're dealing with a scammer through a private message? I don't know. I just don't understand. Seems these birds are difficult to obtain but if someone is to obtain them they are very expensive. I would think we would see them posted everywhere. ya know! If you went through the trouble of getting them and you paid so much money: why not share your story and talk about how they're doing or if you had trouble breeding them, etc.

Let me guess that this was a breeder in Indonesia? You cannot and never will be able to import birds or eggs from Indonesia. They will take your money and then laugh all the way to the bank. The birds will be killed at customs or in quarantine because they come from a banned country. You will get a fine and they will still keep your money because you cannot sue someone in another country.

@thunterthehunte I agree, all this Ayam Cemani hype is reminding me a lot of the Tickle Me Elmo days.

Ayam Cemani are beautiful, rare, and difficult to breed. But they are not cheap plastic kids toys built in China. There are many dedicated Cemani breeders in this country. Breeding any FM breed is expensive as they don't lay a lot of eggs. Some of the lines only lay 60 eggs or so a year. And of the chicks that hatch, you only get a small number of birds that are breeding/show quality. The same is true with English Orps, particularly hard to perfect colors like Silver Laced. You have to hatch and cull a lot to get the best quality. That's why they are rare and expensive. Plus they go broody more than any other breed I have seen. And when one goes broody, the rest of the hens may completely stop laying as well.

And Ayam Cemani are not the only black skinned breed. I also breed Svart Hona. They are equally as beautiful and even rarer than Ayam Cemani.

Do you suppose there is some connection to the Silkies way back? I read that the Ayam Cemani came straight out of the jungle... I also read they bleed black so ya I take it all with a grain of... corn ;-)
