WANTED: hatching partner

From what I've been reading 60-70% may be too high for your humidity - but again - this is my first hatch too so I don't really know. I've been running my humidity at about 40-42% (this is higher than originally planned, but I had porous eggs so I increased it based on other info I read) and I'm only planning to increase it to about 48%.

You may want to check The Learning Center on BYC. Everything I've read says to get the humidity up to 65-70% for hatching, but I may be wrong - wouldn't be the first time...

I hear peeping!!! I am having a heck of a time, keeping the humidity up...finally put a vaporizer in the room to raise the humidity level in the outside air...that has helped some.

I have a dumb question that has nothing to do with hatching. When I see posts, I see alot of moving smiley faces on people's posts. How do you do that?

LALADY101? Where are you in LA? My mom is on her way to Enon today...she is from there...wish I were with her, my girls got to go, though. They are looking forward to days on the Boguachitto River. (not sure I spelled that right...)

Good luck on you hatching....I have eggs in the incubator that are supposed to hatch out today...I am on pins and needles waiting for them.. This is my first incubator hatch...I have 12 Dominique and 18 Red Star...did not candle....so, I am just keeping my fingers crossed....

I have 6 hens that went broody on me...and they have hatched out babies...soooo cute! I took one of the hens and gave her the hatched out babies in a seperate pen...she is a good mama! The other hens are still setting....and dang it! They have new eggs under them! Which is good in one way...but I have no idea when some of them are supposed to hatch...cause I don't know when some of them appeared! I did date all the eggs that were there on 5/30...so every morning is kind of like Christmas....the kids and I run out to see if we have more babies... I think we are up to 23 or 24 now.

Still waiting on my eggs to arrive they should be in in the next few days,I'm also new to this i just cant wait to receive my eggs.Still try to get the temp right it is staying at 98 with the hydrometer and 99 with the thermometer.
