And this year, after talking to some local, poultry, old farts - they know they're old farts it isn't a slam, LOL, they said use whole or crushed oats for a hen I had with too much molting problems and one that had gotten plucked by a dog.
ADD oats and up the protein and they can feather in rather quickly. I was very pleased.
Could she be molting? My rooster molted a lot of his breast feathers, but they were already growing back before I even noticed he molted them in the first place
Heck I had a MALE turkey go broody with his gal, he stripped out his own breast feathers in just that pattern. Sad really. He didn't look anywhere near as macho as he had but... He looked really cute with the chicks on his back (mom sucked at brooding and had to raise chicks instead). He did the entire brooding thing on the ground with them til they could perch. He was a good daddy though, just looked pure stupid.
