You ordered a coop when?????? OH NO!!!!! Totally unacceptable. If it were me, this is what I would do (and this is just my 2 cents).
1. I would send him a nice email re-capping the events that have led up to you STILL not having your coop. I would explain to him that he is in breach off his contract and that you are demanding the finished coop within a certain period of time. Tell him that if he cannot deliver, then you will proceed with legal action. (Tell him that you DO NOT want the refund, you want the coop AS PROMISED.) If he does not deliver, then begin legal action.
2. You said that he is a builder but you didn't say if he is a local business owner or just someone who builds things. With that said, I would contact the local Better Business Bureau and let them know what is going on.
3. I know that you have all of your emails, so print those out and forward them to the Better Business Bureau.
4. Unfortunately when things like this happen, it takes time for this to play out.
Hopefully, you win this and get your coop for your girls.
Once you win (and this is just what I would do), I would blast this man and his business on the internet, Craiglist, etc. and make people aware of his bad business practices and terrible customer service. And you wouldn't be telling a lie because you have proof. But that's just me. When you provide terrible customer service to me (that ends up like your story), you get what you ask for as far as me posting a Unsatifactory Customer Review EVERYWHERE.
