Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

my finished duck pen

that's a great job!

We have a similar size pen almost exactly like that one- it's our 'spare" pen, where we planned to use for quarantining new birds.
(right now it's got our rooster, so the hens can get a rest from him . Poor things- they have feather-less backs!).

I need so help or at least ideas please,
I have 3 chainlink panels that have been laying down for 2 years and the grass has growen into them like a web.  Last year had the guys try to help me get them pulled up and no go. tried to burn the grass but the sod is in there. I was going to try digging each out my had on my hands and knees but my son thinks Im nuts. They are big panels and I dont have the money to get more of them and I really want them for a big run to help seperate my color English Orps.
A friend said to hook truckup and pull them out I think Id have one throught the window of the truck and it just wouldnt work, husband said to have neighbor come over with plow thing and pull them out but dont you think that will distroy them.  2 of them are like 6x12 and the other one 6x6 or 6x8. Im not a happy camper right now..:rant

If you have time to wait, you could cover them with that black plastic stuff that kills weeds then try to pull them up when everything growing through them is dead. Not sure how effective that would be. It probably depends on how much and what is growing through them.

Try using a flat shovel to cut through the mat on top of a panel until can break it free?

The black plastic idea is great then use a flat shovel to clear surface and then pull off.

Sadly enough, I didn't get any chocolates at all. That's my problem, sure enough.

I bought myself chocolate! Whole Paycheck had these big organic dark chocolate bars we love on sale for $2.50 each. Awesome flavors- dark chocolate with sea salt & almonds, with chili pepper, with cherries and chiles, with coffee nibs, etc- I bought one for each of my son's teachers at school , plus office staff, etc.

Of course while they were ON SALE, I just HAD to get some for me and DH.
We celebrated Valentines day at home, with cheap take out and split a candy bar.

I must have my chocolate- it;s one of the 4 food groups here!

Got outside and cleaned out the two BLRW coops, sun was shining, it was lovely. Then dark clouds rolled in. Thankfully, just as I finished, it started hailing something fierce! The deck is now covered! Now warming up with a cup of tea and trying to catch up here but it's so hard!!! Since I posted last night there are 15+ new pages!!! LOL!!!

So if there is any big news, somebody please fill me in!!!

DH had his MRI last night, and they gave him a disk with all the images on it. Looking at it with our uneducated eyes, and comparing his images to those online, we are guessing he has two herniated disks, in L5 and S1. We will follow up with his PC Dr this week to find out for sure. But that would explain why every 2-3 months he goes through this, although this is by far the worst epside yet!

Hahaha, I think it moved down here. Just got done dropping pea size hail. I was out building on the pallet coop just before it started.

Well, I checked on Lucy and all are well so far. I didn't actually see them all. I guess some could be not doing so well but I'd never know. I'll have to wait until they start coming out for the day to eat and drink since I'm....that's right....NOT INTERFERING!!!

And yes it's taking every fiber of my being not to go outside and pull them each out one by one to make sure they're still alive.

On the computer and can use those wonderful emoticons!

Thanks I'm proud of myself for getting it done. My ducks are enjoying it. They are flapping their wings and playing around. Now I just got to get them to start swimming. My favorite thing about ducks is when they splash and swim around in the water.
