Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hi friends,
Still reading every post and staying caught up but don't have anything much to say.
I guess my brain is pretty much focused on taxes.
(So if you want to talk tax code, PM me!

- although I imagine more people would feel more like
sickbyc.gif
or

about tax code...)

Keep the photos and jokes coming! I love them!

Andrea, Russ, Sara, Kim - got you on my list for honeysuckle starts. Won't be working on that til mid- April.
Sara - for the life of me, I can't remember the name of a honeysuckle you might like. It'll come back to me. I may be digging up the whole plant since I don't like where it is now. I'll get back to you on that, too.

Have a great day!
Ruth
thank you

Quote: Don't start me on peat moss

In my opinion - nobody ever should use peat moss. Never ever never ever never.

Nope - not ever.

It is a non-renewable natural resource. Once it is gone, it is gone forever. There are other things that will amend your soil just as well.

Just say NO to peat moss!!

"Well...Since I asked for no opinions nor permission from you or any one else, I'll continue doing what works and using what is available. Just say YES to freedom of choice.

When I was at Del's shortly after I got my driver's license, I was looking in the chick bins and noticed a sad little GSL with a bloody bum.  The others were picking on her; she was so sad and pathetic.  I took her and two others home with me.  Poor mom had to set up the brooder really fast.  If I hadn't taken her, they would have "placed her in a box in the back" (AKA the garbage).  She's the only one left of the three, with a few wonky tail feathers sticking out of the main tail.  Sometimes you just gotta help a poor defenseless creature that others would just throw in the trash.
If I see a sick or injured bird I think I would have a hard time saying NO!

:frow . I have no experience with chicks from Coastal. My first were from Wilco Farm Stores. I would hope that if Coastal had issues they would have changed hatcheries.
well I know that the majority of the chicks are from Dunlap. And have heard good things about them!!:)

OK so I had / have no idea about peatmoss. I didn't know it was non-renewable. But I also don't really know what it is or from where it comes.

Would somebody be willing to edamacate me wth out this turning into a big ugly? Please

Just set 10 eggs under my EExSilkie. She'd been sitting well enough enough apparently. I just apparently only saw her when she was off the nest. The 3 week old, previously refrigerated silkie eggs I'd put in the nest as bait eggs had veins starting.

So there are 8 wheaten/blue wheaten ameraucana eggs, and two eggs from my blue egged EE girl covered by the wheaten ameraucana rooster. The EE girl is a very good layer. She lays 5-6 eggs a week at 2 years old.

I'm so excited. Can't wait for the chicks. Crossing my fingers for mostly girls. I need them for this winter.

Sending good vibes your way... GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS ! Hope that helps.

Quote: I had planned on useing Vistaprint because of the free ones. But two things, One I didn't want to wait for them to get here. Two because we are moving I didn't want to have hundreds of cards to either change the address on or throw away because of the address.
It's official kids. I will be at the Monroe Show. It is on the calendar, so unless an emergency happens I will be there to meet peeps and see the birds.

That is AWESOME! Can't wait to meet you and so many others at the show.
This is one of the cutest dog and cat pictures ever.
Quote: That is a sweet thought. But I would be worried for those of you that get supper attached to your chicks and chickens if the chick did not make it after you spend time trying to get it healthy. Or if it did live until adult hood and then passed because it was weaker from having issues as a chick. That is just my opinion though. But it is nice of you to want to try and help the helpless.
