Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

OK so I had / have no idea about peatmoss. I didn't know it was non-renewable. But I also don't really know what it is or from where it comes.

Would somebody be willing to edamacate me wth out this turning into a big ugly? Please

x2. I know nothing. Haven't ever considered using it because what we're using is working, but...I'd like to know more about what it is.

Quote: Don't start me on peat moss

In my opinion - nobody ever should use peat moss. Never ever never ever never.

Nope - not ever.

It is a non-renewable natural resource. Once it is gone, it is gone forever. There are other things that will amend your soil just as well.

Just say NO to peat moss!!

Hi there, I'm very excited to get my first chicks next week and will be purchasing them from my local Costal Farm and Ranch the first day they came in. But somebody told me that the chicks from there can often end up disabled or have diseases is this true? Or are the birds from there pretty good?

My very first chicks I ordered two years ago in February. They did not ship well and half of them died. 15 survived and 3 of them had crooked toes. You can tape them and straighten them out. It worked well for 2 of them but not for Cuckoo Maran pullet I got. She still has one almost wadded up foot and they other one is almost straight. She is two years old and she doesn't seem to bothered at all by her foot. I would not hatch any of her eggs for fear she passed on those bad feet. I think if the chicks are really stressed it can cause bad feet. It is not likely you will see those at a feed store. I am sure they cull those if they come in that way.
