Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Thanks. I am trying so hard to keep my mind off of it but I can't. I know if I'm sad he'll feel it. I want to be happy because when I'm happy he's happy. He'll be with me forever. When a dog comes into my life it gives me a piece of it's heart, when it leaves it takes a piece of mine.
Plus I have learned so much from demon. It's just now I need to find another dog to at least train to alert me to my dizzy spells before they happen, my anxiety attacks and all that. and it has to be good around people. Oscar does everything but fears people. Hoping that Buddy (we're getting soon) will learn from oscar to alert me. he's a people dog. Loves everyone.

I bet there's something you can do to make Demon feel better and extend his life. You might even end up curing him.

I've been helping some friends who have a yellow lab with cancer- and she's still alive and happy- for a year now- with holistic medicine.

For instance, just now- I googled "Dog enlarged heart" and am reading this article that states Taurine (dirt cheap amino acid) plus Carnitine and CoQ10 are helpful.
Here, check this out: http://www.dog-health-guide.org/dogenlargedheart.html

BTW- I used to buy all the amino acid supplements and stuff like MSM, glucosamine, chondroitan, & Carnitine for my son and I from this company in Maine that sells in bulk, dirt cheap. Check out "Beyond a Century" online catalog- flat fee shipping $5.

Good Luck.

Thanks. Taurine is in raw meats naturally though. And he eats only raw meaty bones + organ meats. I've started him on aspirin therapy (one small dose per day as vet said to). I'll check out carnitine and CoQ10 He really doesn't like taking pills. He also gets fish oil on his food daily.
it's just his gums are white and the vets all say it's due to his heart. not a good sign. I think that heart attack caused some damage that can't be undone.

Demon is on a raw diet because he's allergic to dog food.   Corn, soy, wheat and "unknown"    The unknown leaves me scared to treat him.   I usually use cheese as treats with him.    or even cooked egg diced up.
i hope you're not beating yourself up over his heart disease. It sounds like you are doing the very best thing anyone could for him, and he'd probably be gone by now if you weren't.

I am somewhat upset, but I saved a lot of money. Let me explain.

I have bought seeds from Burpee on a number of occasions and what I got did ok, at least for me.
Since I do little gardening and none the 10 years I was not that suprised when I saw the increase of prices on the Burpee site catalog. To make the long story short, I wrote out my list and it came to about $52 bucks.

I had to go to Walmart this evening to pick up a prescription and while there I decided to look at what they had in the seed line. Lo and behold there were the Burpee seeds. My cost was $21 bucks. Saved money but don't understand why the price was so different. You would think that by buying direct you would at least pay what local retail wa asking or even less. Puzzle me?

By any chance did you compare the weight of the packets from Walmart vs mail order? I've seen differences in some products at Walmart.

I'm beating myself up because there is nothing i can do now. I feel so helpless. he's not just a pet but my service dog. he is a HUGE part of my life. losing him feels like i'm losing my freedom.

I think we caught a glimpse of a small green Yoda-like fella at the Empire State Building today!

Stay tuned for future updates!

Quote: For any woman I meet that is looking for a holster I suggest the same one I use. It is a Black Hawk, I love it. It has a little button you have to push to be able to pull the gun out. It does not make it hard to draw or slow it down at all but it makes it so that no one can just come up behind you and grab your gun from you. It is the best!
checked a dozen of the eggs shipped to me. All seem okay for being shipped except one had the air sac at the wrong end. It was packaged the right way, in the incubator the right way... small end down. I cracked it that one wasn't fertile anyway. So no loss. The 6 white ones i checked were all starting to have very fine red lines in them (veins). Excited. Only a few days into incubation. Was only checking to bring the number down a bit if there were any to messed up to incubate.
in a few days i'll check more of them.
How exciting. I am glad they are working for you. Sorry one was not fertile, I would have thought with 4 Roos and seeing them do their job all the time that every one would have been fertile.

Sorry, I wish there was something I could say to make you feel better. But I know there is not. Just try and enjoy him.

oh it's okay that not all 6 dozen are fertile. Trust me it's fine LOL. I told my mom how many i have and told her if half hatch that we're done hatching for the year. If more then half hatch then she is planning on picking out a rooster for her neighbor and a few pullets.
i was looking at black hawk holsters a month ago. But wasn't sure of the size of gun i'd be carrying. I have two guns that are different sizes. Now that i have decided i need to go pick a holster out that fits me.

Thank you and everyone else for the emotional support. I am trying to enjoy demon. Taking pictures of him. I want to remember good memories of him. I probably have a million photos of him already.

Generally, the dosage of supplements added to foods isn't high enough to be effective. It might be worth a try to supplement with CoQ10 and taurine.

So sorry to hear about the diagnosis. I treasure the last few months I had with my Lab. It was a very special time and he was very happy being the "King of the House" and getting all my attention. I pulled a futon mattress into the living room so he could sleep with me every night (he had his leg amputated to get rid of the cancer). He loved it.

Just try to enjoy what time you have left. There will be plenty of time to mourn later. (((Hugs)))
