I've now spent 1/2 the day running back and foth to check on chicks- getting nothing much done on this sunny day , so am going to pull myself outside to get the jobs done we intended. Geez, these little guys are distracting!

Quote: No..it was a real coating of stuff, like shellac or lacquer, polyurethane, in a spray paint can.
Was it Deft? We used to use that sealing frames or other pieces when I was doing art restoration.

Heh heh heh... I already texted her. I'm going out at 4 pm to pick up some eggs!My Silkie girls will be so happy. I'll have to watch them though. They're first time broodies so I want to make sure they're good mamas. So excited to have a baby nursery in the backyard again!![]()
I haven't had any luck with my original hatching egg inquiry. You know, I would think if a seller was listing here in the Buy Sell Trade section and I offered to pick up eggs or meet her somewhere local so she didn't even have to bother packing them for shipping that she might be a little more willing to get back to me. After messaging back and forth she finally gave me her phone number but I've called her for two days and she hasn't called me back ever. I'm not judging, just wondering. I suppose something could have happened that could have prevented a return call but just don't know.
However, this gives me a good excuse to see CowGirlGrace again, so it's better this way anyway! I know and trust her and am sure we'll get some pretty babies from her eggs.
So my DD Mikayla and I after a busy morning had the privilege to visit Cowgirlgrace what a cool lady! We went to pick up a couple Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucana chicks and ended up talking about incubating eggs which helps for Mikayla's science fair project and we talked some gardening. We didn't go down to the big tunnel but man that thing is BIG!
Cowgirlgrace put all the chicks in a box to make it easier for Mikayla to pick them out, I tell her just a few. Oh are those BLR Wyandotte Chic's? Cool! Maybe a couple of those too! I look in Mikayla's box and I couldn't see the bottom! Dad you said a few that's a few. After explaining few is three and your mom will kill me if we bring home more than a FEW! She says dad they're so cute though, mommy won't mind. We ended up with 4 of each and hatching eggs! 6 Lavender Orpington eggs and 6 Cochin eggs of some sort. I guess I'll need to figure out the name of the Cochin, she told me but I was on a chick binge so my focus was a little off! The Roo had very cool colors so we had to get eggs. What the heck right? Thanks Kayla!!!
We got the chicks home and I swear our dog Tucker was shaking his head and mumbling Dude you're on your own I ain't got no room in my house for you tonight! Gee Thanks Pal!!
So Here are our new additions
DD Kayla is working on names as we speak and she was right DW loves the new babies and no DOG House for ME!!!
Tucker you and I need to talk PAL![]()
Sorry about the pic size next time I'll try medium
Lovely Blue "just started to lay" pullet needs a home.
I really like this girl, but she can fly, and she does. Every day. She needs a home with a covered run (or some other containment). So far, we have found her eggs (I think most of them) and she's doing 4-5 a week. I really don't want to clip her wings . . .sooo. . . !
Outside the fence
Still outside
This is her sister - so she has some Ameraucana in her; but all my blues lay cream/beige/pinkish eggs.
I also have a lovely pair of Welsh Harlequin ducks from Dave Holderread that are looking for a home.
Now by extras do you mean, ones that you are selling? Because if so, I would LOVE two or three Polish!!!!For those asking what kind of chicks I have that are extras: I have just one of white wyandotte, silver laced wyandotte, Dominique, buff Polish, white crested black Polish.
They are 2 weeks old now and so cute!
Quote: I agree, I love this pic. Very sweet.
I see a bunch of really cute chicks. Also great job on the sandal. I hate trying to take pictures of the chicks under the red light, makes me so mad because half the time that is the only place they are doing funny things that I want to capture.

I am so very jealous that so many of you are getting to meet CowGirlGrace and for all the chicks and eggs ya'll are getting from her.
I read a blog about how to make it. I have thought about it, but I still have about 5 bottles of it from when it was on sale. But after we move I would like to make my own.Has anyone here ever made their own ACV before? I was reading a blog earlier today with three different methods and was wondering what the best method for me might be. I've got nothing but time and a curious mind so would like to make my own. Can't be that different from brewing wine, could it? Or I suppose it could. Different method, different product, different purpose. Never mind. Nothing like making wine.
Mikayla sounds just like me when i was growing up(am I grown up yet?). There was never too many critters! So my DD Mikayla and I after a busy morning had the privilege to visit Cowgirlgrace what a cool lady! FirewifeJessNow DH and I are making plans for the backyard; if the house will need selling, we need to clean it up because the chickens have destroyed itLots to think about but regardless of what happens, it will be nice to purge some stuff ahead of time and clean up around here even if we don't move. Win win situation.
